    Berlin-based designer Joa Herrenknecht launched a new geometric lighting series called KOGI at the curated DMY Berlin Trails exhibition at this year’s Ventura Lambrate . The abstract lighting sculptures are constructed out of pieces of lightweight Tyvek that are cut into triangles and assembled into their hanging forms. Light beams through the material creating warm textures of light and is even available in various colors to add a unique, almost watercolor look.

    Berlin-based product designer Dewa Bleisinger ‘s QUAD Trivet adjusts to a handful of sizes and patterns to accommodate any size pot you place on it. It unfolds from a simple square to a large circle, making it the only trivet you’ll ever need. It’s made from 16 wooden cubes that are connected with a silicone strip that’s hidden on the underside of the cubes. Besides being flexible, the silicone is also heat-resistant making it a safe place for your hot food. The chunky cubes are substantial and form a variety of geometric designs to not only do its job but to also look good on the table

    The all-wood Nerd chair , designed by David Geckeler , was the winner of the 2012 Muuto Talent Award, and is thus being produced by Muuto , the Copenhagen-based company known for cool, new Nordic designs. German-born Geckeler, who studied industrial design in Berlin and Copenhagen, focuses on furniture, interior, tableware, and lighting. His cites his driving principles, which are apparent in the Nerd, as “simplicity, detail-orientation, and a pinch of courageous design language.” He treats us to his process in this month’s Deconstruction

    The design pair of osko+deichmann are based in Berlin, Germany and create some brilliantly designed seating pieces, my faves being Plot and Pebble . Plot , which is produced by Brunner , is their latest, and it’s a modular seating system inspired by naturally cascaded forms in nature.

    Nørd is the resulting work of David Fabio Geckeler , a Berlin-based industrial designer. Geckeler recently completed his studies at the University of Arts in Berlin. His Nørd chair means “nerd” or “geek” in Danish, which he describes as the fundamental character of the chair.

    Swiss-born, Berlin-based Clemens Tissi has designed a new lamp, the Light Crate (Lichtkiste in German) — a table or floor lamp. The architectural lamp functions as tables and lamps, exuding light when needed. The user assembles each piece so that the light can be adjusted due to their needs.
