Interior designer David Harris is a founding partner and one of the forces behind a fabulous pair of New York City furniture companies, The New Traditionalists and ducduc . While The New Traditionalists designs are entrenched in the classics, the approach is wholly of this era, with a multitude of custom, come-up-with-your-own-design fabrics and finishes. ducduc is a modern dream for kids, all glossy, sleek, and white, accented with bright color bursts. The design magic happens in the Soho studio, and the building takes place not far beyond, in facilities in New England, using old-fashioned furniture making techniques. You can get a glimpse of Harris’ classic and current day influences in this week’s Friday Five

Skin Collection is a series of furniture covered in leather remnants. Pepe Heykoop used what was leftover from leather furniture companies to cover chairs. Similar to our random skin patterns and cell growth in nature, the leather scraps are pieced together to make unique pieces. The collection will be exhibited at DMY Berlin in June.
When I heard about this exciting collaboration between two of my favorite companies I couldn’t wait to spill the beans. Modern-twist , creator of unique modern tabletop textiles, and Nervous System , designers of math-meets-nature jewelry have collaborated on a new collection of trivets called Studio Trivetz. These colorful trivets not only protect your table, but they interconnect so that you can place just about any size pot or pan on top
