German design studio Supergrau , which has three designers at the helm, has launched a series of lighting designs that continue their tradition of sustainability and their desire for people “to love, to buy, to preserve” good design. All of their retro/futuristic designs are handcrafted in Germany and the collection is now being carried by design showroom Mondo Collection . The Furore Table Lamp is crafted from recovered marble, blown glass, and copper.

So that’s probably why I also like  Mambo’s  new series of three Star pendant lamps created for the ETTERO collection. I love the random placement of the lines, too as if they were growing organically like branches or bone. And, +1 for brass.

The objects are manufactured using both advanced 3D printing techniques and traditional materials such as resin, parchment, and maple. The two designs are conscious of small-spaces, and can overlap each other in any number of ways. Dune is an eco-friendly and modular outdoor furniture set. Each piece is made from 3D molded natural fiber cement. With six different designs to be mixed and matched, Dune can be expanded indefinitely. Some of the units have a flat surface while others have a concave and slight back.

Designed by Austrian designer Rainer Mutsch, Dune is 100% recyclable.

In 2009, Dune won the Red Dot Design Award and the Good Design Award in 2010. It is also nominated for the Brit Insurance Designs of the Year 2011. To get a glimpse into how the Dune is made,  have a look at this video.

Cervo Chair This weekend, Industry Gallery will open Nature/Data , the first solo U.S. exhibition for New York-based Italian designer and architect Antonio Pio Saracino . The works in the exhibition are executed in plywood, metal, carbon fiber and synthetics and abstract from natural forms such as molecules, leaves, blossoms, and crystals.
