    The students from the Department of Interior Architecture at Rhode Island School of Design have created a collection entitled Prototyping the Domestic Environment currently being exhibited in Milan at Salone del Mobile 2012 . The five works are interactive and multi-functional with the focus on “the formal adaptation of utilitarian furniture pieces into domestic spatial components.” Each object is not only a functioning interior piece, but they also act as adjustable devices for play, i.e., “tactile or optical sensory exploration or kinetic transformation.” The designs are well thought out, as well as being aesthetically pleasing with their geometric attributes.     Paul Loebach was born in 1972 into a long line of German carpenters and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He received a BFA in Industrial Design from Rhode Island School of Design in 2002 and immediately moved to New York after graduating to found his furniture design studio. He now works as a designer and manufacturing consultant with a broad range of American and European furniture companies, with over 200 designs currently in production at the age of 35

    Frank Cresencia is a senior at the Rhode Island School of Design, and has just completed a cantilever chair that focuses on using minimal material and innovative joinery to achieve a light profile. He dadoed the wooden seat shell into the steel frame.
