Yay! I love this collaboration. Danish company Fritz Hansen is working with Maharam and Kvadrat for the launch of Point by Paul Smith. British Designer Paul Smith is known for his vibrant textiles and his reimagining of traditional Scottish Fair Isle knitting is evident in his new Point collection. Available in seven different geometric patterns and eleven colorways, the fabrics are being upholstered onto a selection of Fritz Hansen’s classic design icons including the Egg, Swan and Grand Prix by Arne Jacobsen and the PK22 chair by Poul Kjærholm, as well as the Alphabet Sofa by Piero Lissoni.
Knitting had its moment (and it’s still going on), so perhaps it’s time to shine a spotlight on quilters. While the craft may evoke images of grannies in spectacles equipped with needles in a barn (sewing bee anyone?), there’s an alternative to patchwork classics. After posting a few modern quilters last year, we stumbled upon a decidedly hip Flickr group of crafters called The Modern Quilt Guild , and pulled out half a dozen favorites.

Knitting has become a modern hobby in recent years, no longer just something our grandmothers do. Creative knitters all over the world find innovative ways to use their finished knitting products. This is exemplified by the London-based Irish designer Claire Anne O’Brien as she brings us a new take on traditional knitting with modern stools. How comfortable do these Knitted Stools look?

Materials: 3 x VIKA AMON tabletop - 78", 3 x EXPEDIT shelves - 2x4, flat braces, drawer pull, 10x1 board, white paint Description: Our spare bedroom serves so many purposes - home office, sewing/knitting/craft room, guest room - too many to name. And until recently, it was also a catch-all for furniture that didn't fit anywhere else in the house. When we chose to reorganize this space, we knew we wanted lots of desk space and sufficient storage for odds and ends, without losing the floorspace we need for the pull-out bed.
