Materials: Expedit, plywood sheathing, acrylic paint, acrylic protector, handles, hinges, screws Description: In my case I bought the Expedit to use as an extension of the kitchen cabinet since we didn't have a lot of storage space for dinnerware. The problem was that the dust was covering all the plates and glasses so I decided we need to cover some of the shelves. I went to a hardware store and bought small pieces of plywood sheathing (the small leftovers are really cheap) and I asked them to cut them about an inch bigger than the holes of the furniture. I also picked a bunch of regular hinges, in my case the darker the better so they don't stand out too much, and four different handles just for fun. I sanded the 4 pieces of plywood sheathing very well and then applied 2 thick coats of acrylic white paint.

Buy a HULTET bamboo dish 45cm.

Cover it with golden acrylic paint, front and back.

Look for a picture or a drawing of a hibiscus flower you like put it in the size you like and print it out, then cut it out trace it on the dish.

Look for tendrils samples you like, or draw the lines freehand on the dish.

Fill in the black background with acrylic paint.

For the tendrils, you need 3D glue for foils (it dries up transparently, but it remains sticky).

Cover the tendrils completely let it dry!!

Apply the décor foil irregular (I’ve used a little red and bronze at the edge and covered the rest with gold). Important: the metallic or coloured side has to be above! Press on well and peel it off, repeat this step as often as necessary.
Materials: Billy Bookshelves

Description: The room is in our basement and has this awkward ledge that runs across two walls. The area above the ledge was always challenging to decorate and seemed like wasted space. This solution provided an architectural focal point for the room as well as the one thing no kiddo can have enough of – storage!

before the built-ins

We used 5 Ikea Billy bookshelves (3 small and 2 large) to make this entire wall have “built-ins”. When we assembled the bookcases, we left the backs off so that we could paint the wall behind blue. We centered the bookshelves on the ledge and attached them with L-brackets so they won’t topple over. We took one of the shelves to Home Depot and had them color-match the paint. We then custom cut and fit pieces of MDF at each edge to cover any gap between shelf and wall. Lastly, we attached crown molding painted to match the shelves across the entire top to make it read visually as one unit.

Here is the cost breakdown:

Ikea Billy Bookcases – $270
Blue Paint – Free (leftover from previous project)
Black Paint to Match (1 quart) – $13
Wood for sides – $10
Molding – $19
L-Brackets – $6
Total – $318
