No Wookiees were harmed in the making of this lamp. Great things to People (gt2P) launched their Gudpaka Lamp this year at imm cologne . Made of alpaca hair woven onto alpaca felt and plywood, the lamp is a play of opposites: hard and soft, vegetable and animal, smooth and flat, digital and traditional manufacturing, and even North and South (in the Chilean materials used). Sure it’s nice to get or give roses and chocolates for Valentine’s Day, but it’s also nice to give something from the — er — heart. This vase by Eva Milinkovic of Tsunami Glassworks is definitely a heart you wouldn’t want to break. Contact Tsunami Glassworks for purchasing details. Corezone is a heart-shaped object in which you can place something, whether a thought or emotion just like a fortune cookie

We’ve all seen bookshelves, clocks and coatracks made of words. However, this one by Istanbul-based designer Mebrure Oral , the words actually help you organize your titles. Books you’ve read go on the “has been read” side and the new ones on the “will be read” side. This is a great way to make sure none of the books you haven’t read yet get lost in a sea of old books

How genius is this 2012 Rocking Chair Sculpture Calendar by Katsumi Tamura for Good Morning, Inc.? It is designed to sit on your desk and it even rocks back and forth like a real rocking chair. The design is meant to symbolize a relaxing way to measure the passage of time, i.e., rocking. The current month sits on the back of the chair while the other months are stored on the seat.

I bet you’d never expect to see a modern sled! We Never Give Up! is a design by Polish designer Szymon Hanczar that’s an update to the traditional winter sled. Here’s some info about the design written by Joanna Legan: Not so long ago people in Poland used to take their sledges from the basements and take over all possible city hills. At that time snow still existed. As we are suffering from greenhouse effect and something like snow simply does not exist anymore, we are offering a brand- new, attractive and minimalist sledge, possible to use on all types of flat surfaces, sloping though. The sledge is more trendy than long board, and more stylish than roller-skates

Designed by Alain Gilles , the BuzziHood is one of a few designs he created for Buzzispace , shown this past week at Maison & Objet . This design is all about privacy. It reminds me of those rows of payphones in the airport except with BuzziHoods, you use your own cell phone to make calls. The hoods are designed to make you feel protected and isolated, Alain explains, “just like when you pull your hood on from those warm hoodies, or when you bring those high collars up from your jacket.” Each hood is made from recycled fabric and available in tons of fun colors, including custom fabrics. There is also the possibility to add a special little notepad or tablet so one can easily take notes or write down a number while making a phone call.

Product and lighting designer Giles Godwin-Brown is a recent graduate and has designed two high-quality modern lamps. The Nepa Lamp is a two-dimensional “lamp silhouette” that stands six feet. It’s wall-mounted and equipped with friction hinges to allow the piece to pivot away from the wall. Constructed of birch plywood and stainless steel with some aluminum details, it utilizes high-powered LED lighting. The lamp is playful and I love that it references a giant-sized Anglepoise lamp.

The Japan Collection rugs designed by Enrique Eguino for Alfombras Veo Veo are inspired by Japanese locations, culture, and tradition. They pixelate an image and create these fun rugs that at first glance look like they are designed with random colors.
