Designer Tom Dixon never disappoints and this year he really stepped up his game. Besides having a booth featuring new products, he also had a pop-up manufacturing booth that was actually making limited edition Punch Ball fixtures (above). Dixon partnered with Trumpf Inc who brought in the high tech machines cranking out the creations and set up shop so visitors could watch the process

Roots Vases by Giorgio Biscaro Studio

Inspired by flower stems,  Giorgio Biscaro designed these colorful glass vases with interior “stems” that serve to hold the roots. Made of glass in a simple cylidrical shape, each vase holds a colorful, root-shaped vase inside made of blown borosilicate glass. They’re reversible in the sense that you can flip one over and use the single stem for a solitary flower, or turn it upside down and place flowers around the colorful center. The Roots Vases can be bought in Milan at the Design Gallery Luisa Delle Piane . Photo by Andrea Basile Studio

Domes & Decor: Love This Look?

It seems like large glass domes have been popping up in home decor everywhere. Rather than just putting a piece on display, the glass dome calls more attention to it – almost saying that it’s such a special item that it must be guarded by the dome!

The look is fairly simple, and can be used in SO many ways, as shown above. First, a plant is covered by a glass dome. Then, a series of bright Christmas ornaments are arranged in domes of varying heights. I love this look as opposed to the easy way of putting ornaments in bowls – something I have in my own home! In the third picture, a statue is settled inside a glass dome, giving it a sort of museum vibe.

All three of the images are completely different looks, yet with that glass dome in common.

What do you think of glass domes and home decor – do you love this look or could you do without it? Do you have something like this in your home?
