Suzanne Sharp is one half of The Rug Company . She and her husband, Chris, started The Rug Company with the idea that they would see rugs from a contemporary viewpoint without sacrificing quality and the traditional rug making skills. Inspired by the classical and armed with pure 21st century spirit, a good visual imagination and an inherent ability to know what works they soldiered on. It was a daunting task but it was a challenge that has been worth the effort.

Furniture made from pallets isn’t really anything new, but designer Pierre Vedel ‘s Pallet Chair is the first piece of furniture I’ve seen made from a pallet that isn’t instantly recognizable as a pallet. It’s made from one pallet, some clotheline (for the bottom), and two cushions from IKEA. Share This: Twitter | Facebook | Discover more great design by following Design Milk on Twitter and Facebook

I’m not quite ready to show you my nursery (it’s nowhere near being finished!) but I wanted to share some products we’re using for Little Milk. OK, and you might get a tiny sneak peek at the nursery… Nook Sleep Systems was kind enough to send over their Pebble crib mattress , Pebble ChangePad , and LilyPad Playmat (I opted for a pink one). These were on the top of my wishlist so I was pretty excited to get the chance to try them out. I first took note of Nook early last year , and I remember saying to myself, “If I ever have a baby, this is the mattress I would get.” All three products have Nook’s signature pebble-like texture that allows for air flow.

Arik Levy has designed a new series of lights called WellOfLife. He says, “In many traditions and in everyday life Light is Life…. I wanted to combine this idea with the story of catching the light in a water bucket, from which I got the inspiration for the Well.” I like how they are elephant-colored with pops of colors inside.
