Huddle Tables by Matthew Kroeker

The Huddle Tables by Matthew Kroeker features Robertson machine screws meticulously arranged into three effective bowl shapes, each being permanently fixed to their base counterparts. The designer explains that “the screw, perhaps the definitive object of utility, is transformed into something elegant and impulsive; a far stretch from the original purpose of these fasteners. Now, these tightly-knit arrays of screws are given the task of holding your everyday objects, but also content being left untouched and only observed.” The prototypes are made from FSC-certified walnut veneer and formaldehyde-free plywood. The screws are made by being fastened by hand and then painted with a powder-coated finish. ALEX work table with flat files

Materials: 2 VIKA ALEX storage units ($50 each): 601.928.26; 1 ALEX flatfile drawer unit ($120): 401.962.41; 1 tabletop (I used VIKA BLECKET because of the sweet lightbox inlay – $100): 201.036.05; 2 sets CAPITA brackets ($15 each, $30 total): 400.511.96; 1 RATIONELL shelf (30×24, set of 2 for $16): 245.785.10 Description: We finished a basement renovation recently that yielded a small room that I could use for a design/music studio. The room is small (about 10'x10' with a 3' swath of space under stairs) and making the best possible use of the space is key – as is finding furniture that's a little undersized to keep from making the room feel cramped. A goal was also to give my girls a space where they could do art projects and leave them out to dry, or just have the freedom to leave the space a little messier than they could leave the dining room or kitchen counter. Source: Readmade Magazine, Bauhaus Beauty I saw an article in a recent issue of ReadyMade  (pic, right) about a furniture designer who found a killer Bauhaus-designed house in the hills of St

Bundle Lamp by Brooke Woosley

The Bundle lamp is inspired by a bundle of newspaper fastened with twine. Brooke Woosley is back again this year with a great new collection. Each Bundle lamp is hand blown in CA by glass artisan Jim Embrescia, making each lamp one of a kind.

Cross Side Chair by David Irwin

Industrial designer David Irwin ‘s Cross Side Chair launched at ICFF . The simple yet elegant construction consists of two interlocking profiles, which support a fully upholstered seat. The quality of both the solid walnut frame and the 100% wool fabric from British Manufacturer Camira perfectly compliment and enhance the simple form and clean lines of the chair, which take their cue from the symmetrical nature of an hour glass.

Phase Design 2011 Collection

While at ICFF I had the pleasure of checking out Phase Design’s latest collection. Bride’s Veil Stools The Bride’s Veil Stool family includes a low stool, bar stool, and a double stool, for you and your date. This collection is inspired by the graceful fall of a bride’s veil, thus the name. Available in smoked brass, polished chrome, or powder coat finishes with upholstered tops.

Aurum by Endesigns

Have you ever wanted to own your very own stack of gold bars like in the movies? Here’s your chance. OK, these aren’t real gold bars… Aurum, Latin for “gold,” is a sculptural lighting system by Endesigns that resembles a stack of gold bars. Made of hand-cut and polished K9 crystal bricks in the classical shape of tapered gold bars, Aurum sits atop a base of American black walnut. Handelier

Voila! has a few new original designs, but the hand collection really caught my eye, especially the “ Handelier “. They also have a standing light fixture and a sconce . Certainly not your run-of-the-mill home lighting solutions… I just want to give this guy a high five.
