Monsieur Lamp

Spanish design brand Almerich has collaborated with Barcelona-based designers Tom Allen , Christian Vivanco and Yago Rodriguez on a new reading lamp called Monsieur. Connecting the reader, the light and the book, the designers researched the strong emotional connection between the user and the intimate experience of reading. I like that between the name of the lamp and the design, it almost looks and acts like a butler, catering to your every reading need. Whenever I hear the word parquet, I can’t help but think of that talking tub of margarine . But, this table isn’t made of margarine, but rather hand-veneered teak strips in a herringbone pattern.

Viya Home

Viya Home is a new collection of home furnishings from India for The Stephanie Odegard Collection recently launched by Stephanie Odegard and Vikram Goyal. It’s a little off my beaten path but I find myself really into all things gold and brass these days (I blame Kelly Wearstler ) so I chose to share some of their brass and gold pieces although they have a variety of finishes available.

Made Out Portugal

It never ceases to amaze me how many awesome international design collectives there are out there to help boost the careers of young designers. I feel like they’re more popular in the UK and Europe. I get excited when I see new international design from lots of talent all in one place — this is why I blog. Thus, when I got an email from Made Out Portugal I was overjoyed. Made Out Portugal is a design platform for Portuguese designers working outside of Portugal that acts like a collective rather than a brand
