makelike Cactus Collection

makelike is a Portland-based multidisciplinary design studio with a life long obsession with cacti . That’s why they decided to design a limited-edition theme-based line of products created for the home specifically focusing on the prickly green desert plant. The collection includes wallpaper, limited-edition posters, tea towels and pillow cases, screenprinted by hand using water-based inks in (or around) Portland, Oregon.

Truncheon Lighting by Commonwealth

Truncheon is a series of lamps designed by Commonwealth (Zoe Coombes and David Boira) for MatterMade consisting of a suspended tube light, an articulated task lamp and a freestanding tube that rests against a wall. Avoiding unnecessary knobs or switches, the Truncheon adheres to its namesake, a simple compact stick form fashioned out of traditional materials and shaped by advanced digital technology. Resisting the demand to convert to compact fluorescent bulbs, the designers opted for energy-saving LED bulbs. © 2010 Design Milk | Posted by Jaime in Home Furnishings | Permalink | No comments | Tweet This | Share on Facebook

Lattoog

Lattoog is the brand new furniture design company from designers Leonardo Lattavo and Pedro Moog. Hailing from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (an influence that you can see in many of their designs) these two designers have been hard at work the past decade or so collaborating on a variety of beautiful home furnishings, some sleek and modern, others over the top. I have to say that their designs sure are in the spirit of Design Milk! © 2010 Design Milk | Posted by Jaime in Home Furnishings | Permalink | 1 comment | Tweet This | Share on Facebook

Semjase Lamp by Sandro Santantonio

From Sandro Santantonio comes the Semjase floor lamp. Technology, design and poetry are the guidelines that have taken to the planning of this floor lamp. With its big dimensions, it has been designed to serve as an elegant piece of furniture rather than an accessory. From the designer: At the end of the past century Semjase entered the human make-believe: a slim woman, with long hair adorning her face, dressed with a close-fitting and sinuous white dress.

Softwood by Veronika Wildgruber

Softwood by Veronika Wildgruber was exhibited at DMY International Design Festival Berlin and consists of a series of chairs carved from solid wood but made to appear like soft pillows. Upon first glance, they trick the viewer into thinking they are soft, comfortable chairs, but upon closer inspection you can see that they are actually hard wood. The idea behind this concept is that you cannot always rely on your perception. © 2010 Design Milk | Posted by Jaime in Home Furnishings | Permalink | 4 comments | Tweet This | Share on Facebook
