Visitor Collection by Judith Jacobi
March 2nd, 2013 — Design
Judith Jacobi is a student at Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule in Halle, Germany whose project called Visitor is a collection of products that presents creative solutions for needs surrounding commuting, travel and communication. Judith says, Commuting between one location and another is not about the places itself and neither about logistics and time management. It is rather about the people who are important to us and who care about us. At last we put up with such a double life for our friends and families. The collection consists of three designs: a calendar, where dates become secondary and migrant birds as representatives for people living far from each other, move towards each other from day to day; a pin-set for maps, where small nesting boxes can be filled with memories of distant intimates and thus a location on the map is replaced by a person; and a piece of furniture that serves as a well-prepared nest for the arrival, being filled with plans for the weekend and other prearrangements.

Naive Tableware by Vanja Bazdulj
March 1st, 2013 — Design
London-based designer Vanja Bazdulj is working on an ever-growing collection of handmade tableware fashioned in slab built clay. The Naive Tableware series consists of raw, yet simple, cups, jugs, and vases with sketches and doodles done by the designer herself. She was inspired by sketches and drawings that are left behind on urban walls in her area of London where “hipsters like to leave their marks.” So, on this collection, Bazdulj leaves behind her own markings creating a quirky collection of functional tableware.

I don’t know about you but I still get excited when I view a city from an airplane or a tall building. There’s something about that perspective that is so fascinating to me and when I saw The City Series from McNabb & Co. , I got the same feeling

February 28th, 2013 — Design
Min-jon is an Etsy shop that makes handmade, laser-cut wooden lampshades. Essentially, there are two lampshade: the inner shell made of cloth and an outer shell made of real oak wood. Pretty cool! The shop is run by Nadine Fliegen and Andrea Steckner, who hail from Germany. You can swap out the inner shade to change up the look, too.

Shaky: A Sculptural Vase from Enzyma
February 28th, 2013 — Design
After a year post-launch, Italian brand Enzyma is back with the start of a year full of household furnishings and the first up is Shaky , a vase designed by founder Gianluca Sgalippa. Shaky is a playful, ceramic vase that reminds me of one of those bendy straws or a Slinky.

Minimalist Lamp called Aurora by The Good Flock
February 28th, 2013 — Design
The simple Aurora Lamp by The Good Flock is hand turned and assembled in Oregon. I love that you can use this lamp on a desk surface or mount it to the wall as a sconce with a single screw. Made of white oak and finished with 100% Tung Oil, this lamp kind of reminds me a bit of a candlestick. It also comes in a black finish.

Sponge Vase: InVaso by Stefano Claudio Bison
February 27th, 2013 — Design
InVaso is one interesting looking vase because it’s made out of sponge, the same type of sponge you use to wash your car. Sponges are meant to hold water, which is one of the necessary factors to keep plants alive. Realized by industrial designer Stefano Claudio Bison , this container or vase is holding soil and plants, which contain other elements like mineral salts. So essentially what you have is a container of plants and soil that in turn are containers themselves of minerals and other elements. They resemble clay pots that you see everywhere but in fun, vibrant colors.
