Industrial designer Julie Richoz took the top prize at Design Parade 7 with her desk tray and basket  Bouleau design. Bouleau was inspired by a round, industrial metal clamp. The clamp is made more flexible due to its cut out form

Inspired by a childhood trip to Yellowstone National Park, Daniel MacDonald invented a way to create these orb-like sculptures that he calls shio , which happens to be the Japanese word for salt. The orbs are created in a studio where purified salt is poured over forms made by MacDonald. The salt water flows and slowly builds up over time and the crystals begin to form. occulus (first image also) Each piece is unique and takes about a week to fully form. He’s developed several different “species” or types of shio pieces and each one lights up

French object design student Elodie Elsenberger created the Land(e)scape Desk as a 2nd year thesis project and it’s quite impressive. The desk uses no screws or glue, only electrical cord that is woven through the wood to hold it together. Instead of having a bunch of different desk accessories piled up, the desk has a uniform look with the woven cord creating all of the storage and organizational items you may need. I especially love the caged lamp. I love how the desktop looks almost like a topographical map.

Warm Pecan Transitional Premier Turino Wall Unit

After spending three winter seasons snowboarding in Chamonix, France, and a year in Hanoi, Vietnam working with students, Swedish designer  Jacob Granat started his own company importing and selling furniture, lamps and textiles back in 2006. He quickly realized that selling them wasn’t as much fun as making them himself, so he enrolled in a cabinet-making course, then in university. Now, freshly degreed in furniture design, Granat showed his line ”The Sound of Forest” at the Stockholm Furniture Fair and Superstudio Piu, Milan this year.
