Portuguese brand OWN from designer Miguel Flores Soeiro recently exhibited their new Stream Light Collection at Light+Building in Frankfurt this past month. These silhouette lamps are dramatic and feel like a completely new use for traditional neon. They almost feel like light drawings created using long exposure photography.

Made by Eurokancom , the Koren chair by designer Djordje Zivanovic takes its form and assembly from early manufacturing techniques. Koren, the Serbian word for “roots,” looks back to a time when simplicity was king but updates it for our 21st century needs. Made of six pieces of beech wood joined together, Koren includes places to “put our things” when we sit down – purses, coats, hats, etc. – something I constantly look for whenever I go to a restaurant. Between my bag and my coat and scarf, sometimes it would be nice if a chair wasn’t just a chair

While in NYC, we checked out the brand new Lento collection designed by Finnish designer Harri Koskinen for Artek . The collection is simple, much in the style of previous Artek collections, with a simple base design reminiscent of the curved legs of the Aalto chairs and stools. ”Lento means flight and its design can be associated with lightness and airiness,” says Koskinen. The collection feels so, too.

This week, CMYLK takes a trip to laid back Laurel Canyon, California, compliments of New York City-based architecture and interior design firm Ashe + Leandro . We’ve created four Colourlovers palettes, one each for a modern deck with a leafy backdrop, a living room with beamed ceiling and white leather Eames lounge, a groovy dining room with Panton chairs, and a pinky-purplish and blue bedroom with statement wallpaper.
