CMYLK: Neon

We’re hardly slaves to the trends, but when a look as fun as fluoro comes along, it’s hard to resist. Neon fashions bring to mind armfuls of brightly-colored jelly bracelets à la Madonna and her legions of Material Girls from the ’80s, but back then, when it came to decor, mauve was having a moment.

GDG Studios

GDG Studios is the New Jersey-based design studio run by Joseph Gower who creates handmade porcelain objects with a contemporary twist. The Crochet and Styroware pieces are so unique and completely fun to stare at. I love the textures and shapes that he creates along with the added touches of gold or silver and even cotton. I love any and all things faceted so these pieces really speak to my geometric shapes-loving heart. Serie FW , designed and produced by Tommaso Bistacchi and Giovanni Pappalardo, is a family of stools and benches made of felt and wood. They were recently presented in Milan. The collection consists of all stool, two seats bench, four seats bench up to bar stool and temporary seats made of a simple wood structure and soft felt bands that are wound over the exterior. The woven felt not only creates a seat, but also a place to store magazines, newspapers or the remote control. Get Out! Llar by Borja García

Borja García designed the Llar fireplace collection for Gandia Blasco . He says, “We wanted to work on a product that would transfer concepts more akin to inside a house, like siting round the fire, to the outdoor space and Llar is a response to this idea. It has a purely architectural look, with the product’s proportions and composition conveying the solid feel and presence so typical of the modern trend, in which fire is treated as one of the basic architectural features of the house.” Share This: Twitter | Facebook | Discover more great design by following Design Milk on Twitter and Facebook . © 2012 Design Milk | Posted by Jaime in Home Furnishings , Interior Design | Permalink | No comments

A Line by Hagit Pincovici for Colè

Israeli designer Hagit Pincovici is a third generation artisan and continues the legacy of solid craftsmanship but adds her own modern aesthetic to her work. She designed the A line chest of drawers for the Italian design label Colè . The sleek looking unit features drawers stacked in a skewed fashion with red handles aligned down the front. What looks like three drawers is actually six. I love the long tapered legs on the piece and that it sits up higher

Gravity Stool by Jólan van der Wiel

Gravity Stool by Amsterdam-based designer Jólan van der Wiel is a project that if nothing else, it’s quite magical. Using a combination of gravity and magnetic fields, he’s able to sculpt these organically shaped stools that are unique and one-of-a-kind. So, how does he do it? Well, to begin with he’s concocted a mixture of liquid plastic and iron.
