From Our Sponsor: Inmod Site Redesign & Giveaway

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share some fun news that we just heard from one of our sponsors. Inmod, an online retailer of modern furniture, lighting and decor, just emailed to let us know that they’re having an awesome giveaway over at their newly redesigned website.

To celebrate the launch of their new design (which is awesome, by the way) – Inmod is giving away a set of four wood dining chairs to one lucky winner. That lucky guy or gal gets to choose from the five modern designs shown above.

All you have to do is subscribe to their email and/or send out a quick tweet. So go check it out! The contest ends Sunday, January 8th at midnight PST.

HGTV Dream Home

Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and a relaxing weekend. Are you sticking to any resolutions you’ve made?

I’m not one for New Year’s resolutions or reflections, but there is one tradition (if you can call it that) that I keep with myself every year – entering the HGTV Dream Home contest everyday from the beginning of the New Year until it ends in February. I always thought the contest began on January 1st, but I see this year it started on the 29th. (Oops, maybe being late to the contest can be part of my little tradition!)

My mom got me started on this about five years ago. It’s fun to think about what you would change about the dream home and if you would keep it or sell it, or what. So, while I should be going to the gym with the rest of the world, I’m going to exercise my stellar abilities at filling out the entry form instead!

What about you? Are there any unique, silly, or simple resolutions, traditions, etc that you have for the New Year?

If You Live in a Modern Home…

Then it’s only fair for your fish to live in a modern fishbowl – right?

For just $40, your favorite fish friend can have a chic stylish little abode that will go better with your decor than one of those round things with stones on the bottom anyway.

The  product description suggests grouping a few together to create your own fish condominium. (Just make sure they pay their association fees each month!)

What do you think – too mod or just right?

Large Abstract Wall Art

I’m really in the mood for a HUGE piece of abstract art. By HUGE I mean like 6 feet by 6 feet. Or maybe 5 ft by 7 ft. And it doesn’t have to be fancy. But it has to big. (There are so many things I could add to this paragraph but this is NOT that type of blog!!)

So, anyway.

The first black and white artwork is from one of Valentino’s homes – I’m not sure which. But I’d love to go to bed every night and wake up to that every morning.

The second piece is by Nicole Cohen of Sketch42. It’s seriously awesome and so is she; I definitely recommend that you check out her blog if you aren’t already familiar. PLUS, she paints walls that are kinda like that fabulous piece in Valentino’s home.

The next image has not one but two pieces of large wall art that I’d take in a heartbeat. Designed by Brown Davis Interiors, I’m loving the brightness of both pieces combined with those gorgeous Mongolian lamb chairs. While both pieces are simple, their large size and vibrant color really adds the perfect pop. And I feel like I could probably make one of these two myself (you know, to hold me over until I can actually afford a nice piece made by someone else.)

Are you as into these pieces as I am?

Weekly Six: 12/30/11

It’s the last Weekly Six post of 2011! Do you have any exciting plans for the holiday weekend? Hopefully relaxing is a big part of them. And champagne, too, of course.

So here are some links from the past week for you to enjoy over the long weekend. Feel free to share your favorites in the comments!

1) Some fun champagne recipes for New Year’s Eve, including The Black Velvet (champagne + guiness) which may be good for the guys!

2) A fun party kit for a New Year’s Eve photo booth.

3) I just have to share one of my favorite gifts from Christmas this year – the Raspberry Ice Kitchen Aid mixer. I don’t care what anyone says; the hot pink is fabulous.

4) Check out the Ena Chair, winner of the 2011 Red Dot Design Award.

5) I’m thinking of making my own version of this sweet and simple glitter heart over the weekend. The wedding shoot that it’s featured in is gorgeous, just so you know (check it out!).

6) And finally, there’s something about this bright pink and red dining set that I’m loving. Perhaps it’s the otherwise neutral decor or maybe I just have pink on the brain from my fun mixer. What do you think about the combination?

We’ll see you back here next year! (On Tuesday!) Have a wonderful New Year’s weekend!

There’s still time to plan a fun little get-together or to add some glitz and glam to whatever you already have planned. Above you’ll find some inspiring ideas to implement this weekend. Although the Ball Drop Cupcakes may be a tad out of my league, I can totally print out that cute subway art and throw it in a frame by Saturday. (And hey, so can you!)

Are you making anything fun for New Year’s Eve?

So Pinteresting means the items were found on Pinterest first – so here’s each item with their pin and source!

Low-Hanging Lights: Love this Look?

When I saw the first image above this morning, I wasn’t sure how I felt about the low hanging lamps over a coffee table. It made me think about low-hanging lights in living rooms as a whole. It’s such a different look than over a kitchen counter or dining table.

So of course to find more I turned to Pinterest and these are what I found. What do you think – love this look? I still can’t decide!

Wonderful Winter Whites

Happy First Day of Winter!

How is the weather in your neck of the woods – is it winter-like? It’s been fairly unseasonable in North Jersey the past few days – with warm temperatures and thunderstorms filling the air!

Even still, today marks the first day of winter – the Winter Solstice – so our days won’t be as dark as early as they have been. And even though it’s been warm lately, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t prepare for the cold to come – which is exactly what I’m doing with these cozy winter whites.

These whites have me thinking of cozy beds with knitted comforters and warm faux furs. Can you see yourself running down that bright white hallway and jumping into the coziness?

If you’re not cuddling under the faux fur, then you better stay warm and cozy with some bright white flowers surround by it. I don’t know about you, but I certainly wouldn’t mind staring at that flower arrangement all day. Especially if a huge white feather tree was nearby. Forget Christmas – I’d leave that baby up all winter long!

With furs, feathers, cozy knits and bright whites on my mind – what’s making you think of winter?
