Etsy Round-Up: Stylish Silhouettes

etsy-roundup-silhouettes

Although the origination of silhouette artwork dates back to the 18th century, it is still abundant in modern forms. To prove this traditional form of art can be modernized (and because I just love silhouettes) I scoured Etsy for a round-up of my favorites.

What do you think about silhouettes?

It’s The Little Things In Life…

It’s the little things in life that make a difference…

Like having this adorable little chickadee as your smoke detector, rather than those plain old smoke detectors that everyone else has.

Which would you choose – pink or white?

Recipe Radar: Sandwiches, Sliders and Wraps

via The Girl Who Ate Everything

via The Girl Who Ate Everything

Today begins a series called Recipe Radar, which is essentially just a collection of recipes on my radar – recipes that I’ve collected to test out and share here so that everyone else can share what’s on their radar as well. Send and share them on these posts or anytime in between! So, let’s get started!

I’m constantly on the hunt for different and delicious recipes that I can make quickly after work, as I’m sure many others are as well. Instead of grilled chicken all the time switched around with veggies, here are some quick and easy sandwich and wrap recipes I’ve been dying to try.

How delicious do the Ham & Cheese Sliders look above? I love sandwiches and sliders, but hardly ever make them for dinner. These sliders look quick, easy and flavorful – and will definitely be tried soon. Maybe even tonight! Get the recipe here.

Next up are some Crispy Southwest Chicken Wraps. Again, these seem to be quite easy to make and they look delicious! Although, if I’m really feeling lazy or in a rush, I think I would probably leave out the rice. Terrible, I know!Anyway, get the recipe here.

These Chicken Parmigiana Lettuce Wraps are an easier – and healthier – way to make a delicious Italian dish. Plus, it brings the salad and main course together as one – so simple! Get the recipe here.

Finally, here’s a sandwich recipe that’s ideal for the summertime, so you can make use of the grill and now worry about heating up the house. Plus, I love the combination of arugula, steak, onions and cheese – and on bread! What more could you ask for? Plus, it’s pretty quick and simple – just what I’m looking for! Get the recipe here.

So which of these will you be trying – or have you made anything similar already?

What’s On Your Kitchen Table?

via Martha Stewart

Sometimes things are a little too crazy to keep up with fresh flowers, fruit or other perishable goods as a centerpiece. Sometimes I just want something fun, fabulous and maintenance-free that can rest on my kitchen table until I feel like changing it.

I could go for a decorative bowl filled with decorative balls or potpourri or something like that, or for something like this dish with candles from Martha Stewart. Although, that bowl is filled with dried beans – I think I’d fill mine with coffee beans for more flavor! But then again, I have candles everywhere….

via StrungByColor

So what about these tall glasses decorated with photos? I like this idea of personalizing the centerpiece. And the glass could be filled with whatever you desire – coffee beans, regular beans, decorative beads, etc.

via Real Simple

I also like this combo of dried leaves with a rustic silver tin from Real Simple. Easy to put together, easy to maintain – what more could you ask for?

Since my table centerpiece right now consists of a napkin holder, I need some suggestions! So tell me, what do you have as the centerpiece on your kitchen or dining table? Any suggestions for an easy, breezy solution?! Share your ideas!!

Blending TVs

If there’s one major thing that flat screen TVs can do that tube televisions couldn’t, it’s blending into your home decor. There’s no way those big bulky boxes could be made as subtle as the flat screens in the images above.

In the first image from Better Homes and Gardens, a wall-mounted TV is surrounded by black and white wall decor to help the television blend into the gray walls. In the next image, the TV, along with colorful photos and bright wall scones, add life to a dark, almost-black wall. The third image is the only TV that isn’t mounted on the wall, yet it still seamlessly blends into the decor with the assistance of the wall art combined by a stack of books and a tall table lamp.

What do you think about these images? Do you like to blend your television in or do you not mind having it stand out a bit?

Absolutely Beautiful Things

ab-beaut-things

If you have a few minutes today – or even if you don’t – you must check out the new online store Anna Spiro’s Absolutely Beautiful Things. An interior designer from Australia, Anna Spiro, who also owns a brick and mortar store, has taken a unique approach to online shopping.

Instead of listing products as per the usual, boring way, Anna has created a virtual vignette that visitors can shop from. Look closely at the image above and you’ll see tiny numbers on each piece so that you can click through to the product page.

You can read more about the development behind the store at Anna’s blog, Absolutely Beautiful Things.

I’m absolutely loving the heart pillow and the Mexican embroidery on the wall. What are your favorites from this vignette?
