Anton Beech/Birch Veneer takes a walk on the wild side…

Materials: Anton, high gloss paint, d-c-fix Self Adhesive Vinyl Description: Practical but UGH-LY hand-me-down cabinet with a huge old grease stain on top. No way this was gonna stand next to my Expedits in my home office/livingroom looking like that! Fast and easy fix. Lightly sanded everything then painted the outside, drawer edges and handles (which I had removed previously) using black high gloss paint.

Ekby Jarpen in the hallway

Materials: Ekby Jarpen shelves, Vippa hooks, Ekby Robert Brakets, Besta frame Description: Moving into a new apartment we had trouble finding some hallway furniture to fit in the designated place. As we had three extra shelves we didn’t need and a Besta frame which was bought as a TV stand but was never used, my husband came up with this idea. Items used: – 2 Ekby Jarpen shelves 119 x 28 – 1 Ekby Jarpen shelf 79 x 19 – 5 Vippa hooks – large – 5 Vippa hooks – small – Wallpaper – Black spray paint My English is not very fluent so I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. Besta by the Door

Materials: 75 5/8″ Besta shelf unit, Antonius clothes rail, 4 3/8″ Grundtal hooks, screws Description: We needed a narrow piece of furniture to hold our various coats and jackets (you need quite a variety in Seattle) that did not mount to the wall. The Besta shelf was the perfect fit for our pocket-sized entryway. After building the frame, we lowered all the shelves to the bottom to be used for shoes, bags, etc. The Antonius clothes rail was a bit long, so after chopping that to the appropriate length, we then attached it to the ceiling of the shelf used long screws drilled in from the top. We chose to leave the back off the shelf because we needed access to the light switches on that wall.

Stuva Pantry

Materials: Stuva Combination Description: I used Ikea’s children’s furniture for my kitchen pantry. Perhaps not a “hack” but it’s a combination that I haven’t seen anywhere else and it is working very well for me.

Expedit + dice

Materials: Expedit + dice (a lot of them) Description: Recently we decided to beef up our bland Ikea furniture a bit. The victim was an Expedit rack that we use as a hi-fi rack in our living room. I am a huge fan of pixel art and would cover my whole apartment in 8-bit if I could. Anyhow, as we wanted it to be something that is functional and nice to look at, we decided the only reasonable thing to do is to cover the whole rack with a curtain of dice

SARALISA meets VANVIK

Materials: VANVIK bed (full), SARALISA, MINNA, & DITTE yard fabric, cording for piping, velcro, sewing machine, electic staple gun, and hours of measuring, pinning, and sewing! Description: A few years ago, IKEA released the VANVIK bed frame featuring curved black metal legs, adorned by a slipcover featuring the LEABY black & white floral print that was originally introduced in the EKTORP slipcover. I immediately fell in love with this bed, and was fortunate enough to purchase the floor model at the end of it's existence in the IKEA range. Sadly this version is now discontinued, but its sister version in white with a tailored bed skirt is still available. The curved lines, and the metal feet were the qualities that initially attracted my liking to this piece of furniture.
