Meltdown

The Meltdown Chair proves that having a meltdown isn’t always a bad thing.

Designed by Tom Price, a London-based designer, the Meltdown is made from blue polypropylene rope. The seat within the rope is created with a seat-shaped former that is heated and pressed into a bale of the blue rope. The heat causes the rope to liquify and then as it cools, it sets into the shape of a seat.

Above is the Meltdown weaved together in a bench arrangement. The Meltdown is made in other varieties besides the blue polypropylene rope, in materials such as cable ties, PVC hose, plumbing tubes, polypropylene sheets, and fleece! Head over to designer Tom Price’s website to take a look at the other Meltdown varieties.
