Gorgeous White Space

While browsing through my Google Reader this morning, I came across these unbelievably gorgeous photos on Desire to Inspire.

The images are from the portfolio of designer Kelly Behun, a New York City-based interior designer. I’m really loving them, especially the three above. And I’m green with envy. I want those Ghost Chairs with shaggy carpet! And a huge white sectional! And a lamp that’s a chandelier! (Do I sound like bratty Veruca Salt or what?!)

If you have a few minutes, definitely visit Desire to Inspire to check out some more of Kelly Behun’s gorge interiors!

Deconstruction: Nama Rococo Wallpaper

We have long admired artist Karen Combs’ lyrical swirls, doodles, and doodads that artfully land on her hand-done sheets of wallpaper. Her studio, Nama Rococo , which recently re-located from the Berkshires to the Hudson River Valley, turns out sheets of acid free French paper, hand painted and hand printed with artist’s pigments. For this month’s Deconstruction , Design Milk gets a glimpse of the printing process for Nama Rococo’s new Amsterdam pattern, from testing to the final product, complete with styled photo shoot. But first, if you’re curious about the quirky name, “nama” means “raw” in Japanese, and of course, one look at the designs and you see where rococo comes from! Playing around with rough drawings. This is the first image for what will eventually become Nama Rococo’s Amsterdam wallpaper pattern

Six Different Headboards

Sometimes I wish I could switch out my headboard as often as I switch out my sheets. I love my current headboard, but there are so many other gorgeous headboards out there that it would be my dream to have a different one all the time. Maybe not as often as I change my sheets, but maybe a new headboard every season?

From all of the colors and fabrics to tufts and nailheads, there are so many different styles that it’s hard to choose just one. Lucky for me I got to choose six today! (If only life were a blog.)

So here are six different headboards for you: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

Which is your fave?

Things I Bought Recently

Let’s take a break from the kitchen project and talk about something equally as fun – shopping! For the past month, every day is like Christmas at our house. I’m pretty sure that Fab.com has my wallet held hostage and that the UPS and FedEx guys are ready to go on strike. Each day it seems that something arrives on our doorstep, so much so that our giant recycle trash bin has not been enough for all the cardboard shipping boxes. I thought I’d share a sampling of stuff I recently bought for the house: From top left, clockwise: Three Emeco 111 Navy Chairs for the kitchen to match my red one (this was a Mr. Design Milk decision), set of eight Fferrone water/wine glasses , a small wine rack for reds to place above the wine fridge, two counter stools for the kitchen island, Jim Flora print , Kumani ottoman (Mr

Different Colored Chairs: Love this Look?

There’s a lot going on with these chairs. There’s the same chairs in all different colors and all different chairs in all different colors. I thought about throwing in an image or two with different chairs in the same colors but that was a little too much for me!

So instead let’s just focus on the different color idea here. Could you do it? Are you daring and color-loving enough to do a mish-mosh of color at your dining table? Or are you more of an orderly person that prefers all of their dining chairs to match?

There’s a less intense options for this look with subdued colors as the first table with the Eames chairs, rather than bright and vibrant chairs that are almost neon. Another option is to mix three neutral chairs with three different colored chairs for more of a balance.

When it comes to dining chairs of all different colors – do you love this look? Which way do you prefer?
