Book Lamp

These table and ceiling lamps made by Ragip Erdem are created from old books using not just the pages but the spine and covers, too. Turning them into little sculptures, Ragip hand makes each lamp from a single book, therefore no two lamps are the same. The Cross Hanging Light is modern pendant light designed by Karim Rashid for Freedom of Creation.

Rashid describes the product as “I thought to make a hyper-collage of my icons as a lit object, in changing scale and mass to create diverse shadows and light filtration, to really make one overriding blobular 3-d cross form, which is my symbol for Globalove”

Missing Pieces Table by Rupert McKelvie

UK-based designer Rupert McKelvie has hand constructed a table using thousands of jigsaw pieces. Taking hundreds of hours, he only used puzzle sets that had missing pieces. I’m glad he could put those puzzles to good use. No one likes getting to the end of a puzzle and realizing that there are a few pieces missing. Photos by James Forshall

Half Nelson Lamp

An exclusive release from Modernica , the Half-Nelson Lamp is a magnum opus from the innovative George Nelson Office, circa 1950. Originally made for a large-scale design project, the Holiday House, the lamp had always been a prototype until 1977 when Koch & Lowy, an American lighting company, put it into production until the mid-80s. Now, it’s back and it can be yours. Composed of a cylinder, a rod, and discus, the Half-Nelson Lamp is made of black powder-coated aluminum with a stem of chromed aluminum. The underside of the pivoting disc is white
