Who knew that the ancient Japanese tradition of folding paper into origami would translate into folded stainless steel as a staircase?

Meet the Origami Stairs, made out of stainless steel and shaped into triangular facets to create a flight of stairs. The 6 millimeter thick stainless steel is supported by a glass banister that provides the illusion of floating steps.

Designed by Bell Phillips architects out of South London, the Origami Stairs were created for a client that needed to join two flats together.

Spout is the latest product design concept from Melbourne-based industrial design consultancy Charlwood Design . Spout is a minimalist bathroom basin design with an internal sensor-activated tap. The user placed hands in the sink to activate the water. The temperature can be adjusted with the simple dial. In the center of the dial is a button that can be pushed to activate continuous water flow for filling the sink

How adorable are these Lolita lamps? Aren’t they so prim and proper that you can envision tea and crumpets underneath them?

Designed by Moooi, the Lolita has an injection molded ABS shade and a polyurethane base. She is available in the colors seen above: black, grey, white and pink. Quaint dots line the rim of Lolita’s shade. Aside from the pendant lamp, Lolita also comes in floor and table lamps, all of which should be available from Unica Home early this month.
