Designed by Matali Crasset for Arturo Alvarez , Rhizome is a modern chandelier made from metal that resembles a mobile. Each arm branches out from a central spine and then repeats to create a contemporary effect. This is definitely one of those pieces I see that make me say “Wow.

Materials: Two 12″ Lobbo lamp shades, wire wreath frame, existing three-light chandelier Description: I was looking for a modern upgrade to the three-light chandelier over our kitchen table but didn’t have the budget for the one in the pretty furniture catalog. I also preferred not to mess with electrical wiring. Inspiration struck when I noticed the interlocking puzzle-pieces that make up the Lobbo shades

Sunday, I took some time to check out the Hanging Around exhibit of permanent collection of modern and contemporary lighting at the Philadelphia Museum of Art . Here are a few of my favorites from the exhibition: First, I love the Lüster Chandelier, a tongue-in-cheek 2D LED chandelier by German Ingo Maurer. Also by Ingo Maurer is this 2003 lamp called “Wo bist du, Edison?” (“Where Are You, Edison?”).

Designed by Seattle-based glass blower, Jean-Pierre Canlis, the Raindrop Chandelier is a beautiful piece made from organic blown glass. Hanging from a 36″ round metal base are 8-pieces of the glass, each perfectly designed to resemble large raindrops. The raindrops are illuminated from the exterior to give off a dramatic look.
The gorgeous Raindrop Chandelier adds brightness to even the sunniest of days. Where would you put this piece?

Jean-Pierre (J.P.) Canlis , known for his serene interpretations of nature in glass, has just crossed a new boundary. His Wheat Installation translates the mundane into elegance through a unique display of glass. Each stalk of wheat is hand made by the glass artist who resides in Seattle, Washington and runs his studio and gallery space in downtown Seattle. The Wheat can be scaled down to run down the center of a dining room table or fill a niche as tall as seven feet in height! The Raindrop Chandelier is a modern, fresh feel to the traditional “chandelier.” Inspired by the endless winters of the Pacific Northwest, the Raindrop Chandelier has the possibilities for large-scale installations in public spaces to private home centerpieces. You can’t look at this chandelier and not be impressed. This amazing light is hand-made and transforms dynamically, illuminating as it changes shape. This inspiring piece, called the Yakuza Lou, is the work of artist Eddy Sykes and is intended as a classic chandelier for a new century. Who knows… maybe the Yakuza Lou will one day be the standard.

These chandeliers are limited edition and each is signed and numbered. Each is carefully crafted piece takes up to four months to complete! See more here.

I posted about Jellio awhile back, but their fun candy-inspired décor is always something worth sharing. Today I bring you the Candelier, a chandelier made from 5,000 hand strung acrylic gummy bears! This absolutely amazing light is completely one-of-a-kind and only ten will even be made – due largely in part to the fact that it takes approximately 2 months to make each!

See more here and contact Jellio fast if you want one of these amazing lights!

Cut Glasses Chandelier This chandelier has its roots in the past but its heart in the present. Available as a single drop of 150 glasses (150+1) or double drop of 300 glasses (the +1 refers to John himself being the final craftsman who has brought together generations of others to create a truly unique work). LEGO Chandelier The desire for a focal piece in the hotel bedroom that would sit comfortably in the Victorian building but would give the youth and vigor of a contemporary clientele gave rise to the Lego Chandelier. http://www.johnharringtondesign.com
