Young Italian designer Marica Vizzuso has designed B-OK, a space-saving alternative to the usual bookshelf. Vizzuso asks, “Why do you place books in a conventional way when you can have both an amusing and aesthetically interesting alternative?” The shelving system is constructed like a giant tower, yet unfolds into a room divider. Instead of stacking books side-by-side, you pile books on top of one another into a variety of slots. I’m not sure if the books would fall down, but I really like this idea . There’s also something kind of 90s about it – very CD tower-ish that I find a bit nostalgic.

Materials: Stolmen shoe rack (110 cm), Stolmen suspension fitting (or end fitting), Vika Adils leg + wheel paint Description: I came over two Pioneer CDJ-850 a while ago. Due to lack of space I soon realized I needed some kind of shelf for the cd-players. As the original Pioneer installation plates and arms would end up at $450 I decided to go the DIY way

Show me anything geometric and mirrored and you know it’s going to catch my eye, which is just what the Stellar Console Table did. Amethyst geodes inspired London-based designer Jake Phipps to create this table full of faceted goodness. Check out the video to really see how the piece sparkles: The table’s 900 angled mirrors give the piece depth and dimension and they run alongside the smooth surfaces making it actually look like the geodes they were inspired by. The matching Stellar Mirror came first – we love the pair together. The piece is limited to 25 editions

The Albert clock by German designer Sven Stornebel is not just a clock – it’s a showcase as well. Each house-shaped clock comes with a resident by way of a small plastic toy in the same color. The toy can be put on display in the clock or sat out on its own. You can open the back to fill the case with your treasures or leave it empty.

Materials: Valla kitchen doors, Sätta handle, Placemat (black and red) Description: I planned to make a play-kitchen for my daughter and searched for some inspiration on IKEAHackers. I found several play-kitchen based on the RAST bedside table (like this and this ) and thought that this would be a great idea. So I drove to my local Ikea store for “playkitchen-shopping” and bought the play pots (DUKTIG), plastic kitchen spoons (AKUT) and the wooden stand for those spoons (MAGASIN).

Would anyone agree with me when I saw that the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives is the worst thing to watch if you’re even just a little bit hungry? If I put that show on, my mouth is immediately watering for something greasy and fattening.
This past Sunday, I put on the TV and sure enough, there was Guy Fieri at a restaurant in Cleveland that serves “mod mex.” They showed about six different types of guacamole, one of them with goat cheese, and I knew I had to try it. Since I’m a big fan of both – why not merge the two? So I did – and it was amazing. I would have taken my own photo, but my camera died, so I had to use the one above! Anyway, here’s the recipe:
Goat Cheese Guacamole
3 ripe avocadoes
1 small tomato, chopped
1 small red onion, chopped
1 large clove garlic, minced
4 ounces goat cheese
1 small pepper – I used habanero
Juice from one lime
Salt and pepper to taste
Mash avocadoes in bowl until smooth. Stir in tomato, onion, garlic, pepper and goat cheese, taking care to break up goat cheese evenly. Add lime juice, salt and pepper to taste and stir to mix. Serve and enjoy!
Have you tried guacamole with any fun additions?

Oh Carnovsky , I love these new wall decals you designed for Blik . If you recall, we featured Carnovsky’s RGB exhibition a few years back and these new decals don’t fall far from that awesome tree. Using their trademark RGB (red, green, blue) technique paired with a variety of intersecting and overlapping insect, animal and foliage illustrations, these kaleidoscope-like patterns become completely different animals when under specific lighting.
