Such a simple idea, yet so smart! Designed by Bart Lens , the For Your Eyes Mirror not only has the perfect name, it also has the right idea. The minimal design of just a simple long, narrow mirror with a slight curve (that’s meant to mimic an eyelash) adds dimension and light to a space, while still remaining delicate in scale. It’s meant to be hung horizontally at eye level, but it can be placed vertically as well

Madrid-based product designer Sergio Guijarro has the best list of things he likes on his website (dogs, new pencils, The Smiths – hello!), but he also creates furniture and objects with great concepts behind them. La Teoría del Dios del Jazz (Theory of the God of Jazz) (first image also) Inspired by the word “improvisation” that describes jazz, the three-piece, limited-edition collection is derived from the idea of conceptual crafts (handcrafted pieces with a story behind it). I love the idea behind them but I also love that they are functioning works of art. Three Gradient Vases The wooden vases show the gradual change from the bottom with it’s polished finish, to the top with its rough, unfinished raw surface.

Happy Friday! Do you have anything planned for this Father’s Day weekend? I’m hoping for a lot of sun which means a lot of pool time.

Design Store(y) heads to the West Coast this week, landing in San Francisco’s Laurel Heights neighborhood to tour March . Proprietor Sam Hamilton, who worked at Ralph Lauren before opening the shop back in 2002, recently relaunched her business, with a whole new twist. Focusing on the kitchen, pantry, and table, Hamilton presents hand hewn items with a modern sensibility, in addition to solid classics like AGA and cast iron cookware.

Everyone seems to be obsessed with peonies. And don’t get me wrong – I can’t say I don’t love them. They’re beautiful! But, for the most part, hydrangeas are the ones that really have my heart. The blue ones are my favorites, but sometimes I just love the all white hydrangeas.
Yesterday, while shopping at Trader Joe’s, I snagged a bouquet of three stems for $5.99. I think they’re usually a dollar or so cheaper there, but what I paid still beats the other grocery stores around here. When I got home, I took two and cut them [a bit shorter than I had intended] for the coffee table. I had left the last stem on the longer side so I put it a small tube vase from the dollar store and placed it on the end of the dresser in our bedroom.
I’ll admit, I don’t keep fresh flowers around the house that often. For no reason in particular. But I love having them around, especially in our bedroom. This is definitely something I’m going to have to keep up with!
What about you – are you a peony person or do you favor the hydrangea? Do you keep fresh flowers around all the time or just once in a while?

Materials: Expedit shelving unit (149 x 149 cm) Description: The under-stairs area in our house was an awkward cluttered cupboard, but had the potential to be a great storage area in the hallway if it could be repurposed with some clever Ikea hackery. Expedit looked ideal… Materials 1 x Expedit 149cm x 149cm shelf unit, high-gloss white 3 x Expedit Insert doors, green 2 x shelf brackets 1 x large L-bracket 18 x small L-bracket (narrower than Expedit shelf-thickness) 44mm square section timber Step 1: Design I created a 3D model of our staircase and the full Expedit shelf unit in SolidWorks, then modified both of them to work out where I should cut down the Expedit, and get a feel for how the thing would look when done
