Non-Rast Playkitchen from kitchen doors

Materials: Valla kitchen doors, Sätta handle, Placemat (black and red) Description: I planned to make a play-kitchen for my daughter and searched for some inspiration on IKEAHackers. I found several play-kitchen based on the RAST bedside table (like this and this ) and thought that this would be a great idea. So I drove to my local Ikea store for “playkitchen-shopping” and bought the play pots (DUKTIG), plastic kitchen spoons (AKUT) and the wooden stand for those spoons (MAGASIN).

Hollywood Regency Baby Changing Station

Materials: Two Aneboda chest of drawers, Ballard Designs Fretwork panels, cut- to-order mirrors Description: I love the look of mirrored fretwork furniture and had always wanted to attempt an Ikea hack. I needed a place to change my baby and store her clothes. When I came across the Aneboda drawers for about $59 each, I thought that they would work perfectly. At my local glass shop I had them cut mirrors to fit the drawer panels which originally came with just corrugated plastic panels. Next I used mirror adhesive that I bought at the hardware store and applied it generously to the back of the mirror.

Wardrobe hiding wires and fuse

Materials: Billy, Besta, Tombo doors, Grundtal rails, brackets and hinges from hardware store Description: In our 1903 apartment we were facing the typical problem of an ugly surface-mounted fuse box that we wanted to hide. As the ceiling is quite high, we couldn’t find a piece furniture tall enough. So we took a Billy bookcase (79 1/2″, 202 cm tall) and fixed it to the wall with metal brackets. The fuse box is now hidden behind a Tombo door.

Coat hanger shelf

Materials: EKBY BJÄRNUM brackets (28 cm), EKBY TONY shelf, ATTEST handle (hole spacing 224 mm), 2 new screws – must be a bit longer than the ones included with the handle

Description: This one is pretty easy. The hacky part is using a door handle as the coat hanger rack.

Buy two new screws from your local hardware store (bring the screws included with the handle so you know what to look for). The new screws must be a little bit longer, try measuring the included screws up against the shelfs thickness.

Cut the shelf to the desired length.

Use a tape measure find the center of the shelf and mark two spots (224 mm apart) where you should drill. Ikea also sells templates to help you mark the two spots with the correct distance, if you are at not completely comfortable with this part.

Double check your measurements, you only get one chance so get it right.

Drill!

Simply follow the included instructions to mount one of the door handles on the shelf, like you would on a wardrobe door.

Vintage lamp base hack

Materials: Lyster candle dish, Tallvik table lamp, Florera candle dish

Description:
It took quite a bit of work to get the look I wanted and I’d like to share it with the Ikeahacker world. I bought a vintage ceramic lamp and was determined to replace the brass hardware with brushed stainless steel or nickel to blend into my decor (I have no brass by choice).
