High Point Market Spring 2012: Leif Petersen

Leif Peterson is an international distributor of fine luxury Italian furniture and decor, which we’re so passionate about here on Design Milk, so they were kind enough to support our trip to High Point this year. Their showroom in High Point is located in 220 Elm and they currently represent ten companies whose offerings work cohesively as a whole, therefore, it’s almost like one-stop shopping! Alivar (furniture), Bonaldo (furniture), Cierre (leather), Fornasarig (furniture), Jesse (furniture) Lafer (recliners), Linie Design (rugs), Penta (lighting), Saba Italia , and Tonelli (glass). Come along for a tour – maybe you’ll see something you like! The first thing to draw you into the showroom is the Glo lighting fixture by Carlo Colombo for Penta.

New Element Shelving System by Brad Ascalon for FASEM

Brad Ascalon Studio is launching a new shelving series called Element for Italian company FASEM at this year’s Salone in Milan. A modular system made of leather and glass, the bookshelves are perfect for both residential and contract markets. The leather is vegetable dyed and high-quality, making these shelves look and feel luxurious, and why shouldn’t they be since they’re housing some of your most precious and favorite books, knick-knacks and photographs? If you’re in Milan during the Salone del Mobile this April, visit FASEM’s exhibition at the Rho Fairgrounds, Hall 5, Stand G6. Favorites: B-LINE in Milan 2012

Italian design company B-LINE is launching quite a few products in Milan at Salone this year, but I have my faves… The Park chair, designed by Neuland IndustrieDesign is the perfect modern stackable for the summer. The Liquorice bookshelf designed by Alessandro Masturzo looks like little tubes joined together like a package of Twizzlers. The Dock coat hanger shelf by B usetti Garuti Redaelli . I like how the hooks are nicely hidden and there is a shelf for all your other odds and ends. You can use the exterior to post notes, too

Baco Sofa by Sara Ferrari for Deco

Sara Ferrari designed this modular sofa, called Baco, for Italian company Deco using 100% natural materials, which is part of the company’s philosophy. The back cushions simply lay on the seat, making everything easy to change and maneuver and they are available in plain or quilted/capitonnè. Emo Design

The Hug stool by Italian design studio Emo Design will launch this year at Salone del Mobile in Milan. Made of white teak, the playfully-colored rope “handle” is a nice contrast to the monolithic body, no to mention a little help with mobility. Metro by Luca Nichetto

Metro is a seating collection designed by Italian designer Luca Nichetto for Italian company Emmegi . I’m drawn to the two tones of the seat – usually I am not a big fan of two-tone seating but this is appealing. In Italian, a metro is a measuring stick, and the Metro sofa embodies this idea of measurement through the multiple modules – defined by color. Italian product design firm Ex.t recently launched three new products: Fir, a freestanding coat stand/towel rack; the Flat Washstand bathroom vanity; and a ceramic version of its Blub 4 pendant. All broadcast the the sparse aesthetic for which the brand is known, and like its predecessors, embody an exquisite synthesis of form and function.
