A few months ago, our lamp posts looked like this: As you can see, not so nice. In fact, I called them “ The Saddest Lamp Posts on the Block .” We didn’t have much budget to do anything fancy, but we knew we couldn’t continue looking at those sad, half-falling apart brick structures any longer. We discovered these great 16″x16″ patio pavers at our local home improvement store and got the keen idea to stand them on edge together to create a concrete planter.

My Couch, My Canvas is a project by Annebet Philips that’s essentially a slipcover that you can drape on top of any couch. It’s exaggerated lines make it seem like a cartoon. Japanese wooden industry Sakai Sangyo co., Ltd has launched a new brand called Buchi , which is a play on the word “fuchi,” meaning “rim” in Japanese. The “rims” of each toy are painted in a playful color by local craftsmen. The toys are all wooden, encouraging education about the role of trees and forests in making objects in our lives as well as educating about sustainable forestry. Designed by Tokyo-based designer Fumie Shibata, the current collection consists of toy cars, a car-shaped toybox, a chair, dominoes, and a stackable puzzle.
