Materials: Two Aneboda chest of drawers, Ballard Designs Fretwork panels, cut- to-order mirrors Description: I love the look of mirrored fretwork furniture and had always wanted to attempt an Ikea hack. I needed a place to change my baby and store her clothes. When I came across the Aneboda drawers for about $59 each, I thought that they would work perfectly. At my local glass shop I had them cut mirrors to fit the drawer panels which originally came with just corrugated plastic panels. Next I used mirror adhesive that I bought at the hardware store and applied it generously to the back of the mirror.

I love the look of agate in almost any way because of the beauty it provides in so many different shades. If you absolutely had to choose which way to show your agate pride, would you rather wear it on your finger or on your bathroom wall?
Obviously, a ring is a switchable agate accessory, but how gorgeous is that bathroom?

It’s reaching the high 80s in the NYC area today. That is ridiculously warm for this time of year! So, instead of sitting at my desk I’ll be wishing that I was sitting in one of those lounge chairs at that beautiful pool…..

Sipping on one of these bad boys. Wouldn’t this Monday be perfect with a modern pool and a strawberry margarita? (Or five!?)
Is it this hot in your neck of the woods?

For this week’s Friday Five we tapped New Zealand-based furniture and lighting designer David Trubridge . Trubridge is trained in Naval Architecture (or boat design), has worked as a forester, and taught himself how to create furniture. He presented his inspiration in terms of the five elements, along with gorgeous landscape photographs he took himself. Not coincidentally, this also happens to be the structure of the book he is writing about his life and design. 1. Earth: Wilderness The Earth is grounding.

A lamp made of spoons ? Sure, why not!? UK-based designer Clive Roddy designed this lamp with a lampshade made of spoons. Inspired by pinecones (clever!) when took a visit to Yosemite National Park, Roddy thought he’d try to translate it into a lamp with 115 stainless steel desert spoons. The tripod oak base acts as a pedestal for the sculpture that sits atop it

Materials: Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, Drill, Knobs, Furniture Wax Description: I took a dark brown Malm 6 drawer dresser from modern and plain to full of character and charm. I started by making a template of the drawer front out of some craft paper and marking where I wanted the holes. I went with 5 1/2 inches from each end. After drilling all of the holes I painted the whole dresser and all of the drawers with some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in the color Napoleonic Blue.
