The Lolilla chair by Ahsayane Design Studio takes inspiration from the beautiful and bold flamenco dresses of southern Spain. To make the chair, the designers fashioned ruffles and swirls using red and white fabric and hand mounted each piece one by one by with 120 bicolor balls atop white chair legs. In these pics, it looks like a chair made from a bunch of loofahs! Share This: Twitter | Facebook | Discover more great design by following Design Milk on Twitter and Facebook .

I’ve been spending some time checking out New Zealand-based designer Khalid Shafar’s portfolio. His modern, somewhat quirky designs are understated enough that they could easily fit into a sophisticated decor. I especially like the surfboard-inspired chaise lounge: Share This: Twitter | Facebook | Discover more great design by following Design Milk on Twitter and Facebook . © 2012 Design Milk | Posted by Jaime in Home Furnishings | Permalink | No comments

You’re probably familiar with Josh Owen’s cast iron menorah for Areaware, which we believe is on its way to iconic status. Owen, who is currently based in Rochester New York and teaches at Rochester Institute of Technology , turns out some pretty amazing clean-lined designs. Most recently he debuted the WC Line for Kontextur , a series comprising a plunger, toilet brush, and waste bin that elevates the mundane. As you can see from this week’s Friday Five , Owen revels in the functional and simple. 1

Happy Friday! Are you ready for Valentine’s Day? How about the weekend?
We’ll start our weekly six links off with some Valentine’s Day decor above. I wouldn’t mind if my foyer looked like that all year round!

Have you noticed an abundance of neon lately? (I write this wearing a very neon pink shirt.) From clothing to home decor, it seems to be popping up here and there – and painting a door bright neon is a fun way to incorporate it!

On the contrary, I’m also loving soft palettes lately – like this grey and light pink combination above. Which do you prefer?

If you love the combination of tomato soup and grilled cheese, check out this awesome recipe. I made it this week and it was delicious!!

Check out these modular soft blocks that are modeled after traditional concrete blocks and can be used to create various pieces of furniture.
