Another Ceramic Candlestick by Marie Dessuant for Another Country

Another Ceramic Candlestick designed by Marie Dessuant for the British furniture brand Another Country  was launched during the London Design Festival . Each candlestick, which is made of a ceramic lid on a turned oak base, sits atop a box that can be used for storage or keeping belongings safe. I love that they resemble pots and pans, but also are reminiscent of old-timey candleholders. Baby Barrel Lamp by Nieuwe Heren

The Barrel Lamp by Nieuwe Heren has a new little brother, the Baby Barrel Lamp, also designed for Dutch design label called New Duivendrecht . The original Barrel Lamp was inspired by the aesthetics of WWI searchlights, and so this is a simpler, scaled-down version of the larger floodlight . New Split Series Tables from Axel Yberg

Axel Yberg has just completed a new line of tables called Split in his brand new collection of limited edition small lot pieces available at akke780.com . The set of tables is made from finished edge black walnut and square stock steel in a woven pattern that reminds me of a bench and also a bit like a maze. I like the playfulness here between the two materials and the modern, clean lines.

Lampframe Pendant Lamp by Herr Mandel

The geometric-shaped Lampframe pendants are made from thin wood strips that are joined together to form triangular frames. The overall shape is formed when four of those frames are connected and then clamp around the lamp cord with the aid of magnets. Made by German designer Herr Mandel , the lights are not about hiding the bulb but rather showcasing it, as you would a picture in a frame. The fixture comes in your choice of untreated oak or oiled mahogany and can be purchased via designspray . London Design Festival 2012: Dementia Music Box by Chloe Meineck

University of Brighton graduate Chloe Meineck  was exhibiting her Music Memory Box at Tent London as part of the London Design Festival . She spent two years conducting research into the positive effect familiar music can have for those with dementia – listening to music from certain periods of their lives can help trigger even their most inaccessible memories. She was driven to act on her findings and so created this gorgeous music box. It’s immediately tactile and reminds me of boxes full of little treasures I had as a child. Each object represents a happy memory and plays a certain piece of music when placed in the center of the box. Chloe developed this box especially for a lady called Barbara

Get Out! Modern Outdoor Patio Furniture: Nautico by Ubica

From the Barcelona design studio Ubica , the Nautico collection of outdoor furniture is a modular design with angled backs and sides made of stainless steel. The overall shape has clean lines that are made with its large, wide cushions making it comfortable to lounge poolside (a girl can dream, right?). The way the collection is designed, you can build on the single, no-arm chair and add as many of them as you want or add an end chair that has a back and a side.

Op Art Style Cardboard Pensamientos Clock by 2y1dea

Designed and handcrafted in Columbia by 2y1dea , the eco-friendly Pensamientos is a cardboard and paper wall clock with thin, dizzying line patterns on the faces. Each clock name and pattern was inspired by music that comes specifically from the region, which gives each one its own look and personality. I love how the clock hands almost look like large Popsicle sticks and also how the color pops against the linear maze of lines behind them.
