Modern Hideaway Dressing Table

Materials: Vika Veine, Vika Lage, Sandby, low voltage downlights, mirror, plastic trays, Velcro strips Description: I really wanted a dressing table for all my girly things…but all the ones in the stores were very old fashioned! Recently married, all our furniture is pretty new and in a modern chocolate brown, so I wanted something to suit. Finally, after much Googling…I came up with this design. A Modern Dining Table with Multiple Personalities

I came across this modern dining table on Trendir yesterday and I have to say, I’m really feelin’ it.

The base of the table is fairly traditional with it’s German oak structure and carved legs. But add that satin white painted cover and it’s like Two-Face from Batman. (Way better looking and not at all a villain, of course).

Oh, and also – it’s extendable! Which you probably already figured out from the images but that’s ok.

Made by Kisskalt, this table can be completely customized – larger, smaller, or they can even add the white modern cover to any existing table if desired.

What do you think about this modern dining table? Does it suit your personality(ies)??

Claire-Anne O’Brien

Never has knitting looked so cool to me. UK-based textile designer Claire-Anne O’Brien was inspired by the actual knitted stitches themselves and created them in large-scale to produce these stools with a modern twist. The effect invokes depth and texture with an overall playful sensibility

Gudpaka Lamp by gt2P

No Wookiees were harmed in the making of this lamp. Great things to People (gt2P) launched their Gudpaka Lamp this year at imm cologne . Made of alpaca hair woven onto alpaca felt and plywood, the lamp is a play of opposites: hard and soft, vegetable and animal, smooth and flat, digital and traditional manufacturing, and even North and South (in the Chilean materials used). Rocking Chair Sculpture Calendar 2012

How genius is this 2012 Rocking Chair Sculpture Calendar by Katsumi Tamura for Good Morning, Inc.? It is designed to sit on your desk and it even rocks back and forth like a real rocking chair. The design is meant to symbolize a relaxing way to measure the passage of time, i.e., rocking. The current month sits on the back of the chair while the other months are stored on the seat.

Extra-Wide Headboards: Love this Look?

Over-sized headboards make a dramatic statement in the bedroom as they easily catch the eye. Whether they’re neutral or in a bright color, it’s the unexpected large size that creates a glamorous modern look.

The first headboard extends wide enough that it passes the ends of the nightstands, while the other two headboards cut off in the middle of the nightstand. The first image also has two matching lamps, while the last two have two matching pendant hanging over each nightstand. All similar layouts but with very different looks!

Do you love the look of these over-sized headboards? Each of these headboards shown above appear to be custom-made items. So, if you had the option to custom make your own headboard – would you go for the extra-wide version or would you stick to the normal width?

BuzziHood by Alain Gilles

Designed by Alain Gilles , the BuzziHood is one of a few designs he created for Buzzispace , shown this past week at Maison & Objet . This design is all about privacy. It reminds me of those rows of payphones in the airport except with BuzziHoods, you use your own cell phone to make calls. The hoods are designed to make you feel protected and isolated, Alain explains, “just like when you pull your hood on from those warm hoodies, or when you bring those high collars up from your jacket.” Each hood is made from recycled fabric and available in tons of fun colors, including custom fabrics. There is also the possibility to add a special little notepad or tablet so one can easily take notes or write down a number while making a phone call.
