Bacterioptica Chandelier by MADLAB

Bacterioptica is a one-of-a-kind chandelier designed by MADLAB designed for a NJ couple whose home is more than chaotic. The home houses the two parents and more than an extended family that includes three children, a dog, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, not to mention house plants, insects, allergens, fungi, and billions of bacteria that live with, on and among all humans! Therefore, the Bacteriortica is a custom piece that is like another living organism in their home and a physical representation of their family (and family bacteria). Looking quite alive, the chandelier is made of Petri dishes, metal rods and 15,000 feet of fiber optics. Inside the Petri dishes each family member placed some — er — bacteria. I wonder what will actually be growing in those Petri dishes in a few years

Here Comes The Bride

All dressed in white! (And brown).

The Bride is a light fixture created by Ivea Kaleja for Latvian company Mammalampa. Made from paper weaved into a Rapunzel-like design, the Bride is available in brown or white. The pendant lamp comes in two sizes, medium and large. There are also table lamps and floor lamps of The Bride available.

Mammalampa says: Like “the atmosphere created by the bride,” The Bride lamp is “feminine and airy.” What do you think about The Bride?

Turn the Season Rug by YLdesign

The Turn the Season rug by Yvette Laduk of YLdesign , which launched at NOW! Maison et Objet , allows you to easily change the seasons inside your home. This reversible rug is printed with a leaf pattern on both sides, one for Spring/Summer and one for Fall — simply flip it over to change seasons. Seems kind of appropriate right now as we get ready for Fall, no?

Evergreen Collection from Pircher

Pircher , a company from Alto Adige specialized in wooden furniture for indoor and outdoor use, is participating for the first time at the Spoga + Gafa trade fair dedicated to outdoor life, which was held earlier this week. Designed by Alessandro Andreucci and Christian Hoisl for Pircher, the Evergreen collection is part of the ELIT line, a collection of contemporary and versatile furniture in the name of a fluidity of spaces and functions. Evergreen is inspired by the marine environment and characterized by its use of regatta braid — a kind of rope that is used for the mooring lines on boats. Evergreen is versatile and modular, and includes a two-seater sofa, a small padded chair, a coffee table and a daybed, which may be joined together using the rope module and the addition of mounted tables in wood.
