Lounge on a Cloud: CIRRUS Seating by DIZAJNO

Soft, fluffy clouds look like a nice place to relax, yes? While not your traditional 2- or 3-cushion sofa, CIRRUS is full of curved shapes resembling a whimsical seating option in your living room instead of up in the sky. The DIZAJNO sofa allows for a variety of sitting and lounging positions in hopes of letting you feel what it’s like to lay on a cloud. It’s built with a traditional, rigid OSB frame with a spring system in the back and seat areas, all topped with a flexible PUR foam that will give you a lifetime of heavenly rest. The  Lubo Majer  designed line is available in two sofas, a chair, and two table options

Chool

Chool is a half chair / half stool seating arrangement from Slam.

In resting mode, it is a modern stool that can be stored underneath tables and desks. When someone sits down on the Chool, the entire seat descends a few inches to be at standard seat height. As it descends, the Chool has a back that rises. When the person rises, the Chool goes back to its resting position. However, there is a button that locks the position of the Chool.

As seen in the first image, there are several different varieties of Chool available, made with all different materials in different styles.

The Chool is completely made in Britain, near London, and all products and fabrics come from Britain as well. Slam is an industrial design company that was started in 2007 by James Lucas.

Circula Seating

The name of this new seating system, Circula is derived from the Latin “circulus: the circle.” Circula is a seating system designed by Taurus Design and produced by German brand Brune . In using the circle as their starting point, Taurus has created a circular design that serves as the basis for an unprecedented seating furniture from which there are innumerable possible configurations. Two equal-sized circles constitute the basic design from which a wide range of geometrically formed seating-accommodations can be created. With its design of centric circles, every combination forms a continuous pattern of geometric elements whose singularity is underlined by fine quilting seams.

Deconstruction: Fusillo by Marco Goffi

We have two Deconstruction posts for you in February since we missed January. This is the first one. Fusillo is a new seating design by Marco Goffi that aspires to facilitate social interaction and conversation in public spaces. I asked Marco to walk us through the process of creating his new design. When I was thinking about the seating, the historical reference that I had in mind was the typical seating used in France many years ago: the “fauteuil conversation.” In reality, my intention was to create an item with many seats offering the possibility to make relationship
