Ego Paris ‘s latest lounger is more than just a chaise. In fact, it’s an armchair, a pouf, and a coffee table, too. Depending on your needs, reconfigure KUBE to be just about whatever you want. The next time you consider buying outdoor furniture, instead of buying a set of separate pieces, you may just want to get a few KUBEs. De La Espada’s new Park Avenue collection, created by designer Soren Rose, has a distinctly Scandinavian feel, but with a contemporary New York touch. It evolved out of a project the designer was doing on Park Avenue in New York City. The pieces were all designed for specific, real people.

As you know, we’re knee-deep in a kitchen renovation , currently waiting for our tile to arrive. One of the things we desperately hate looking at is our ugly dish drying rack / drainer. Despite having a dishwasher, we still often find ourselves hand-washing some dishes, so we still need a drying rack. Did you know there are modern dish drying rack options out there?

In 2011, we were able to cover a few more trade shows and art/design events than usual thanks to some of our super friends! I hope we can continue this great coverage into 2012 and beyond. Susan Serra, CKD, CAPS, of thekitchendesigner.org and scandinaviankitchens.com , as well as creator of Bornholm Kitchen curated a lovely kitchen design trends roundup for us from the 2011 LivingKitchen Show in Cologne, Germany. Also in January, Eleanor walked the aisles of the New York International Gift Fair . In March, notabilia covered the 2011 Singapore Biennale . In May, I spent some time in New York City for the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) .

The results of the five-day design workshop called Nowa Forma , or “New Form,” that took place in Swarzedz, Poland earlier this fall proves that with talent and teamwork great things can happen. Over the course of five days, four teams comprised 16 designers, plus participants from four companies designed and manufactured four distinct pieces of furniture. The Kanapka (above) is a sofa with an inside-out interior that includes three upholstery covers so it can be re-outfitted on whim.
