American designer and Cornell grad Meg O’Halloran presented a new collection of modern seating at the AIA’s Kick Off Party for the Arch and the City Festival recently held at the San Francisco Design Center. The designs of these chairs are the culmination of a year spent working hands-on with vintage furniture projects for En Route Studio . The collection is a nice mix of mid-century modern, Gothic and Art Nouveau merged with the contemporary. Hancrafted in San Francisco and Colorado, the chairs can be made from walnut or hard Eastern maple, and are upholstered with the fabric line Tonus by Maharam Kvadrat

Oscar Diaz has launched a new candle holder called Duo this week at Maison et Objet for Spanish brand Doiy . Not only is it a handy tea light holder, but if you flip it upside-down, it becomes a candlestick for tapered candles as well. Thus, the name Duo. It’s made of silicone so no wax will stick to the surface, and it has a small handle for easy carrying

Nendo is on fire . Their new Scatter Shelf will be presented at the Carpenter’s Workshop Gallery in London during the Frieze Art Fair , and then at Friedman Benda in New York. The shelf is composed of 5mm black acrylic formed into a grid and stacked in layers. They describe the shelf beautifully when they say that it looks as though objects are “caught in a spider’s web when viewed from the front.” Also, when one passes behind, it creates a kaleidoscope-like effect. Photos by Masayuki Hayashi, who also made this little movie
