Poppin
June 17th, 2011 — Design
The people at Poppin are smart. They sent me a tape dispenser from their new collection of stationery and now I’m hooked and kind of obsessed. Their sleek, simple desk accessories include notebooks, pens, highlighters, staplers, rulers, dry erase boards, and just about everything you need to outfit your desk stylishly

Book Lamp
June 17th, 2011 — Design
These table and ceiling lamps made by Ragip Erdem are created from old books using not just the pages but the spine and covers, too. Turning them into little sculptures, Ragip hand makes each lamp from a single book, therefore no two lamps are the same. Marcel Wanders Dressed
June 16th, 2011 — Design
While at ICFF , I had the pleasure of speaking with Marcel Wanders about his new collection for Alessi , called Dressed. The collection includes silverware, dishware and glassware in stainless steel, porcelain and crystal

Missing Pieces Table by Rupert McKelvie
June 16th, 2011 — Design
UK-based designer Rupert McKelvie has hand constructed a table using thousands of jigsaw pieces. Taking hundreds of hours, he only used puzzle sets that had missing pieces. I’m glad he could put those puzzles to good use. No one likes getting to the end of a puzzle and realizing that there are a few pieces missing. Photos by James Forshall

Miriam Liébana created this series of dishes and cutlery called Fusion , with the tagline “Bringing the table to life.” Miriam explains that this set “reinterprets the cooking experience in a metaphor, inspired in the fact that creating a delicious plate is all about mixing the right ingredients in the right portions. With Fusion, a new way of setting the table is possible.” Share This: Twitter | Facebook | Discover more great design by following Design Milk on Twitter and Facebook . © 2011 Design Milk | Posted by Jaime in Home Furnishings | Permalink | No comments

Mayweather Sofa

Khouri Guzman Bunce Limited has launched a line of handcrafted American furniture at their new showroom in Chelsea’s Gallery District. The line is modern but executed in materials and utilizing methods associated with older levels of craftsmanship. My favorite piece is the Mayweather Sofa

Half Nelson Lamp
June 14th, 2011 — Design
An exclusive release from Modernica , the Half-Nelson Lamp is a magnum opus from the innovative George Nelson Office, circa 1950. Originally made for a large-scale design project, the Holiday House, the lamp had always been a prototype until 1977 when Koch & Lowy, an American lighting company, put it into production until the mid-80s. Now, it’s back and it can be yours. Composed of a cylinder, a rod, and discus, the Half-Nelson Lamp is made of black powder-coated aluminum with a stem of chromed aluminum. The underside of the pivoting disc is white
