Spanish designer Mario Ruiz has designed the award-winning Duna lounge series for HBF . Sleek and stylish, you would never know that this was contract furniture. The sofa and lounge chairs are a great combination, or two sofas, depending on the seating needs. From all angles, the chair looks sophisticated and streamlined

Tenenbaum Hazan created a chair out of a most unexpected material: old roller blinds. The TRIS chair is made from plastic roller blinds that, according to the designers, in Israel have no economical profitability in its recycling processes, as they’re now being replaced with aluminum roller blinds. To preserve and reuse the materials, they’ve designed a closed wooden structure in which the blinds are held.

Raining Lights, a rug created by SAHRAI with Swarovski Elements, showed exclusively during the last Salone del Mobile in Milan. Featuring 20,000 of the finest Swarovski Elements, Raining Lights is the first in a collection called the Capsule Collection by SAHRAI. Adding the texture and sparkle to the silk rug, the “rain” of elements is concentrated on one side of the rug and gradually thins out toward the opposite side. New York-based designer Jonas Damon takes a hybrid approach to his work. By day, he’s Creative Director at frog , where he and his team help the world’s leading companies, such as GE, Intel, Comcast, and TouchTunes bring innovative products and experiences to market. In his spare time, he collaborates with small manufacturers such as Areaware and Roll & Hill on highly personal and experimental objects. Take, for instance, his witty analog iPhone, iPod, and iPad docks , which not only reference but also elegantly romanticize old-school alarm clocks and the bulky TV sets of decades past

The WAFFT series by Tani-Matsumura (Takaaki Tani and Kazunori Matsumura) consists of a table and a stool. The theme of the furniture is “waft.” Made of plywood that is a hybrid between aluminum and beech wood, the flexible thin material that is strong enough to support the weight. The airy twisting of the legs also makes it look like “a leaf dancing in the air.” Photos by Kenta Hasegawa.
