Metrobench by Stephen Shaheen

Metrobench by Stephen Shaheen is a conceptually-driven sculptural seating element using recycled New York City Metrocards. Stephen was inspired to use these discarded objects — once very personal and expendable — in a way that reflects the manner in which mass transit joins many diverse lives into a single moment or path together.

Nest (1:2:3:4) Chair

Nest (1:2:3:4) is a chair (or a series of chairs) designed by Kirsten White and built by Jeremy Cox and Lucas Brancalion from Brothers and Sons , for the Capacity Show held at Bookhou in Toronto, earlier this year during Design Week. Made of birch wood and then covered with industrial felt, the hollow chair form explores scale and volume through nesting. Each contained chair is a proportional representation of one another, to the ratio as stated in its name. Each chair is also usable even the small one, perfect for children.

Live.Anywhere by Linda Allen

Linda Allen, who has years under her belt as an established interior designer, just launched her first line of lamps called Live.Anywhere, which are exclusively available at David Sutherland showrooms . Why the name Live.Anywhere? Linda wanted to create a line of lamps that could be used literally anywhere . When she realized that the technology for what she was trying to create didn’t exist though, she decided to invent it herself

Pinto Chair from BoConcept

BoConcept ‘s latest products include this Pinto chair , which caught my eye because there aren’t too many stylish recliners out there. Tyler Jones

Tyler Jones sent me a link to his portfolio, which is full of beautifully crafted handmade furniture. Tyler says, “I loved contemporary furniture but most of what I saw was made in a factory with cheap materials. The pieces were pretty much guaranteed to fall apart in a few years. So I set out to design furniture that was relevant to us today, but that would remain beautiful and functional for generations to come.” Share This: Twitter | Facebook | Discover more great design by following Design Milk on Twitter and Facebook . © 2011 Design Milk | Posted by Jaime in Home Furnishings | Permalink | 1 comment

Paddle by Benjamin Hubert for Fabbian

Paddle is a collection of adjustable LED task lights designed by Benjamin Hubert for Italian lighting manufacturer Fabbian launching in Euroluce during Salone next month. Paddle was inspired by the 360 degree movement of a canoe blade through water, therefore the lamp has a multitude of functional uses. To allow for maximum usability in a variety of working environments. The high brightness LED light source and capacitive touch control is contrasted with a tactile range of material to soften the technology and create a more human range of products
