L’Oiseau is a wooden bird sculpture by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for Vitra that offers a nod to the Eames House Bird . It is a simple bird with no function, just an accessory. Or perhaps a playfriend. It will launch at Salone this month. Share This: Twitter | Facebook | Discover more great design by following Design Milk on Twitter and Facebook

While at the Architectural Digest Home Show , I couldn’t miss Horgan Becket ‘s light green and white booth in which they showcased their new Mesh Series . The first new pieces, a table and bench, define a combination of modest, yet expressive sensibilities for the hand made pieces in the series. The lighting is a thoughtful extension of the language, translated through a combination of digital and hand crafted production techniques. With a wink and nod to the vernacular use of mesh, standard colors for the furnishings are in a red and gray primer, though a wide spectrum of custom colors are available, including natural wood and blackened steel. The lighting, specifically designed for compact fluorescent bulbs, is currently available in two standard colors, a milky white and a light green, with a select variety of custom colors available upon request.

Vanja Bazdulj will be presenting a series of chairs in Milan during Salone at Designersblock Ventura Lambrate . From the designer: Rough & Ready is an experimental furniture morphology inspired by exploring the potentials of the imperfect, human, unpredictable, the unfinished “finish” look aesthetics and independence in work process (“I don’t need no Fancy tools”). Object designs are focused on exploring ambiguous forms, materials out of context and a playful approach to making. All material is prepared by hand, making each piece a unique version. Industrial wool pressed felt is reinforced by rubber, creating not only functional elements but playing with aesthetics of the pieces. Tailored cured sheets of different densities wool felt are assembled and tightened into place with rope, forming seating elements. All Rough&Ready models can be altered according to client wishes and needs, be it in scale or colors. Feeling playful

Bradford Teasdale works with concrete creating custom installations, mosaics, furniture and fine art. I got to see his work in person at the Architectural Digest Home Show. It’s even more exquisite when you get to touch it (which I totally did without asking and he was OK with it!) Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have a new chair design that will launch at Salone in Milan called Osso, created for Mattiazzi using equipment powered by solar energy and carefully sourced woods. From the designers: As designers, we feel involved in supporting such valiant microstructures that are always on the edge as they try to adjust to a constantly changing market. That said, the Osso chair had to be the illustration of what Mattiazzi is in its roots. We designed an object in plain wood but not in regular plain wood, the quality of the wood literally makes the object, like the best piece of meat would make the refinement of a dish
