The Pivot Desk and Vanity by Shay Alkalay of Raw-Edges are two new additions to the Pivot line for Arco . In 2008, Shay designed the Pivot cabinet and now its family has grown. The drawers are hinged together, which means they can both be opened at the same time, something not possible with conventional drawers. The Pivot Desk lowers the Pivot unite and adds a desktop to make it a fully functional workstation

I met architect and designer Sisto Tallini at the BoConcept Trend Talk with Morten Georgsen . He created this plywood chair when he was in graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania. The chair is made from three sheets of ordinary stock plywood purchased from The Home Depot , laminated together and milled on a CNC milling machine.

While visiting The Museum of American Glass in southern New Jersey*, glass artist Thaddeus Wolfe noted a technique of incorporating colored glass into clear molten glass, used to create floral patterns. Inspired by this technique, Wolfe presents his latest series of free-blown glass vases called Inclusions . Instead of creating flowers, Wolfe creates an abstract form with a simple palette that appears to be suspended. This latest series is available at Matter .

Hektik Boutique is the e-shop for the Hektik brand products designed by two designers from Holland. Not only do I think they have an adorable collection of children’s clothing, toys and decor, but the new e-shop design is equally as adorable. The name of this new seating system, Circula is derived from the Latin “circulus: the circle.” Circula is a seating system designed by Taurus Design and produced by German brand Brune . In using the circle as their starting point, Taurus has created a circular design that serves as the basis for an unprecedented seating furniture from which there are innumerable possible configurations. Two equal-sized circles constitute the basic design from which a wide range of geometrically formed seating-accommodations can be created. With its design of centric circles, every combination forms a continuous pattern of geometric elements whose singularity is underlined by fine quilting seams.

Fulo presented their Bits bench at the Stockholm Furniture Fair . Made of small birch wood triangles, the seat appears to be tough and hard, but Fulo says it is soft. Unfortunately, we were not there to test it out, but we’ll take their word for it. It also has a cute moving bolster pillow to adjust it from bench to lounge. via Designboom Share This: Twitter | Facebook | Discover more great design by following Design Milk on Twitter and Facebook

Exhibited during the Stockholm Design Festival , Note Design Studio ‘s newest collection Marginal Notes. Pictured above in the middle are the High Tide/Low Tide shelves. The designers explain “The tidal range is the vertical difference between the high tide and the succeeding low tide. Tides are the rise and fall of sea levels caused by the gravitational forces exerted by the Moon and the Sun and the rotation of the Earth. The shelves in these two floating pieces of furniture mark the tidal ranges of the Strait of Magellan, the calmer Pacific versus the more dramatic Atlantic.” More from the designers below.
