The Tie Chair by Moises Hernandez is a project developed for Bauhaus Möbel® in Mexico City and finished at the end of 2010. Made of maple, walnut, plywood, and leather, the chair is inspired by the tie and suspenders that have been important symbols in fashion history. Merging fashion with furniture and function, the tie in the back offers support and security. Olle Gustafsson created the Fine chair as part of his BA degree project in interior architecture and furniture design at Konstfack, University College of Arts, Craft and Design in Stockholm, Sweden. According to the designer, the project was “developed around the Japanese word ‘ma’ which deals with void, time and space.” Gustaffson created two iterations of the Fine chair: one in ash and one in alder. The tips of the legs on the ash chair are clad with leather, and the alder chair in rubber. When I heard about this exciting collaboration between two of my favorite companies I couldn’t wait to spill the beans. Modern-twist , creator of unique modern tabletop textiles, and Nervous System , designers of math-meets-nature jewelry have collaborated on a new collection of trivets called Studio Trivetz. These colorful trivets not only protect your table, but they interconnect so that you can place just about any size pot or pan on top

Edited by Galerie BSL , and a special commission from the Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton, Upside Down by young French designer Adrien De Melo is a landscape of suspended books, resembling a music score. Each piece is made of stainless steel frames covered with translucent polyurethane inflated cushions and hung using straps. Construct your own ideal floating bookcase using the five base modules. Edited by Galerie BSL to eight examples and one prototype, Upside Down is, originally, a commission from Louis Vuitton Malletier to equip the Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton (60 rue Bassano Paris 8th) where it will be definitively installed from February 2011. The bookcase will be presented for the first time at the next edition of Meet My Project at Lieu du Design, 74 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine (Paris 12th) from January 21-25, 2011.
