Mystically light up your outdoors with the Halley, an arched LED lighting system designed by Jordi Vilardell & Meritxell Vidal for Vibia.
The Halley has several different options including: floor-to-floor, floor-to-wall and floor-to-clamp options. You can mount it to the wall, clamp it to a table or just arch it from the floor. The bases can also be combined for another interesting arrangement.
For convenient storage, each piece can easily be taken apart. Although it is waterproof, the Halley also comes with its own carrying case.
To learn more about The Halley, check it out at Vibia’s website.

Lean back and relax on the luscious lips of Roxanne, a cheeky design by Sand & Birch. In a bright, beautiful red color, Roxanne is a fun interpretation. Roxanne is made in two styles: a soft chair made from polyurethane and fabric and a hard chair made from varnished polyurethane.
Sand & Birch was founded in 2003 by Andrea Fino and Samanta Snidaro to “to re-interpret the concept of furnishing and to bring other meanings, other senses and other lives to Objects.”

I absolutely love space-saving designs, especially when they are as smart as this one. The Fold-Out Convertible Desk solves a problem many people have at home- lack of a workspace.

This innovative desk mounts to your wall like a wall cabinet. Simply pull it open when you need a space to work, and fold it back up when you need the floorspace more. It’s a simple concept, but a brilliant one. The cabinet even has shelves for your office supplies And at a reasonable $199, I say why not!

I absolutely love these lamps. Designed by Yann Kersale in collaboration with Baccarat (ok that explains why they are so pretty!) the Jallum Baccarat Lamps feature a glow stick light form. Perfect for illuminating your walkway or patio, each features an upper crystal cut satin top and an andonized aluminum bottom. They really look stunning, don’t they?
Its going to cost you a pretty penny though. The Jallum Baccarat Lamps are expected to be available by next month and to retail at $3250!!

Awhile back we brought you the Nintendo Table and it got a lot of great feedback, so today we are even more excited to show you the Tetris Table. The Tetris Table is perfect for all of us that were once hooked on the popular game. Nostalgia aside, its use of bright colors and varying shapes makes it a great design work all on its own.
The Tetris Table is the work of designer Jared Kohn. Unfortunately just a concept for now, we are hoping this table finds its way into production real soon!

Unlike the good ol’ schooldays, you won’t get in trouble for having these Paper Planes. Designed by Nipa Doshi and Jonathon Levien of Doshi Levian for Moroso, Paper Planes are paper-like seating arrangements made from a sturdy steel frame. The fun and colorful striped covers are removable for easy washing.

With a low armchair and a high armchair, there are plenty of options for the Paper Planes. As paper planes made from paper can be folded into different uses, each of these Paper Planes can be situated differently to offer several seating options.
For more information on Paper Planes, check them out on Moroso’s website.

This year’s House Beautiful Kitchen of the Year was designed by Jeff Lewis of Bravo’s Flipping Out. To reflect his personal aesthetic, Jeff Lewis says he took a “California modern” approach to designing this year’s kitchen.
To play off of his observation, we’ve put together a list of ten characteristics of a modern kitchen as they are found in House Beautiful’s 2010 Kitchen of the Year.

- Dark Wood – The cabinets are a rich brown that stretch throughout the kitchen.
- Metal – Hints of metal are scattered from the island stools to the stainless steel appliances to the counter accessories.
- Openness – Jeff Lewis said overbuilt cabinets create claustrophobia, so he chose door-less shelves to create an open feel.
- Wood + White – Clean white countertops break up the dark wood cabinetry and the light wood flooring.
- Functionality – The open wine storage wall lets in tons of natural light while doubling as a place to store wine and other bottled beverages.

- Natural Light – Already mentioned in number 5, the wall-storage wall, in addition to the light colors, allow for plenty of natural light.
- Pops of Color – Red panels on the far wall add an element of surprise.
- Eco-friendly – The kitchen table is made from reclaimed wood taken from an old polo barn.
- Minimalistic Pieces – The polished metal island stools, the chairs at the kitchen table, the interesting light fixture are all simple and stylish pieces.
- Storage – There is a ton of storage space in this kitchen with cabinets on both sides of the countertops that eliminate visible clutter.
What are some other modern characteristics you see in the 2010 Kitchen of the Year?
