A prime example of great minimalist design, the Conceal Bookshelf makes a statement with its “lack” of design. The design is smart though, which is why I like it, and of course it looks fun too. Your favorite books appear to float right off the wall and best of all these shelves are available for a reasonable $14!

Customizable and friendly storage! These appropriately called Faceboxes come from Spain and are bright and friendly, making them perfect for anyone who enjoys creative design and a bit of humor. Designer Carlos Tiscar said that this collection came from his vision of contains with wheels as characters, which he decided to one day humanize. These vases give a whole new meaning to industrial design. Made out of industrial materials with some colored lacquer to make them pretty, these vases add a complement new element of style to your home. What I enjoy most about the vases is the element of the unexpected. Sure we’ve all seen vases before and most of us have seen PVC pipes at one point or another. But I never expected to see this, and that’s why I like it! See more about these vases here.

Ever wonder what happens to shopping carts when they get old? Neither did I, but I have to say that what I discovered is in fact pretty interesting. This project, titled Mercado Negro, is the work of Ramon Coronado. Upon moving to LA, he noticed a lot of things about the area in which he lived, one of them being the shortage of parks and recreational areas. What he did notice a lot of were shopping carts, seemingly abandoned everywhere and drawing attention to the area’s poverty. Coronado took it upon himself to make a statement with shopping carts, and used abandoned carts to create furniture that kids would enjoy. His intention was to bring attention to and criticize the scarcity of recreational areas for kids in dense cities.

What do you think? Are his intentions communicated in this unique furniture design? See more here.

It’s designed to store books and magazines, but I think it could work great for shoes as well. And there aren’t too many other bookshelves or shoe racks out there that can double as art!.
