Change it!

amriko
This new wall covering called Change It comes from designer Amirkhan Abdurakhmanov. As its name implies, it may take on many forms. So how does it work? It is actually made of turn-triangles, each of which has a white side, black side, and unique rainbow shade. Turn them to create your own masterpiece. You can even write words, leave messages, or test out your art skills! Cool, right? Even when all the triangles are facing the same way, Change It still makes a pretty bold style statement.

Cool Chair Sighting

invasion-chair

This spacey chair is called the Invasion Chair and is the work of Jean-Jacques Jungers for MT4 Architects.  It’s not actually from space, but it is meant to explore the limits between figuration, abstraction and functionality.  The Invasion Chair comes in both a kids size and an adult size, and its chair cushion is easily changeable and comes in several color choices.

Are you a mac?

itable

Ok you’d really have to love your iPod to want one as a coffee table, but nonetheless it’s pretty cool looking!  This design comes from industrial designer and mac lover Mirko Ginepro.  It’s made from Corian, steel, and glass, so it offers plenty of strength in addition to its unique and brilliant look. I guess the only problem here is if you’re a mac and you live with a pc!

So far, three have been produced for Milan design week, one for a hotel, and another for an art gallery. They are available for purchase, but are currently made only to order. See more or get your own here.

Couture Furniture Design

corset-chair

This is certainly like nothing I’ve ever seen before.  While I can’t deny that it’s a bit strange, it’s also pretty brilliant.  These breathtakingly unique pieces come from Sarah Louise Dix Couture Upholstery, which offers top quality design and upholstery inspired by the form of clothing which it applies to quality vintage furniture.  Each design is individually crafted for the piece of furniture it is integrated with, giving already beautiful vintage pieces even more high end style.

Surrounded by keys

keyboard-bench
As someone who types on a keyboard all day long (as I’m sure a lot of you do to), the Keyboard Bench instantly caught my attention. This bench is made of Baltic birch and is embedded with two thousand computer keys that you can actually press, though don’t expect any words to show up on your monitor.

The Interactive Wolfgang Keyboard Bench, as it is officially called, is the work of Nolan Herbut. Herbut is a student of Industrial design at the University of Alberta and considers his biggest strength the ability to incorporate outside influences and inspiration like friends, family and other outside factors into his designs. Petals

petals-lamp

What a stunning lamp!  This piece instantly caught my eye, and the more I found out about it the more I liked it.  First, it’s called Petals and designed by Gülnur Özdaglar. Second, and truly impressive I have to say, the round clear “petals” you see are actually made from used soda bottles. The petal like structures within the circles are made from cutting, heating, and hand drawing. Absolutely amazing.  See more from the talented designer here.

tucci-crescent-lounge

After digging out of a foot of snow this morning, the question everyone seems to be asking today is “is it summer yet?!”  So naturally when I came upon these awesome lounges from Tucci I felt the need to share them with you.  I like pretty much anything summer related, but there’s no denying the style and luxurious appeal of these lounges.  I mean who wouldn’t want to be sitting there right now!

Transparency

arch-digest

The latest issue of Architectural Digest is all about transparency.  Crystal clear and effortlessly brilliant, I’m a big fan of this simple and striking look. Arch Digest has picked ten fabulous images of transparent furniture used at its best.

arch-digest3

Today, I’ve decided to share three that are not only my favorites, but also illustrate transparent furniture’s impressive range. Here we see it outside, which is probably its most expected use, in a serene bedroom, and probably most unexpected as part of an elegant table setting (where it also totally works!). Head over to Arch Digest to learn more and to see more fabulous uses of transparent furniture.
