Someone told me yesterday that an estimated 17 million people will call out sick today – the day after the Super Bowl. I wish I could have been one of those 17 million – were you one of them?
After all that food and betting and drinking, I would have loved to take another day off! Instead, I’m working the day away, dreaming of lounging with my feet up on a comfy leather sofa, like the one above from ScS. Although, if I were that girl, I’d be in sweats, not looking as cute, covered in a blanket, snacking on some Doritos.
I’m falling asleep at the computer just thinking about sinking into a giant leather sofa. I think I need one of these – or maybe just a leather chair to cozy on and claim as my own.
What are your thoughts on leather sofas?

5 – Will you be watching the Super Bowl on Sunday? I’ll admit, I’m excited for Beyonce’s half time show.
6 – More awesome Sharpie DIYs to try.
Have a great weekend!

Over the weekend, I spent a night in Atlantic City and had dinner at Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant at The Borgata. Every time I eat there, whether I’m with blue cheese lovers or not, I have to order their truffled potato chips. I think I mentioned that I’m currently on the Dukan Diet, which means no potato chips for me – but I decided ahead of time that I was going to cheat on the diet with these chips. And I have NO regrets about it.
Just look at that picture above. These chips are heavenly. [I'm embarrassed to say that picture is from someone on Yelp, but I didn't take a photo of my own and I had to show their true beauty!]
Anyway, for some reason I decided to Google the recipe – to torture myself, maybe? – and found that the executive chef of the Wolfgang Punk Grille in Vegas shared his recipe on a TV station in Detroit. There were a few typos, so I’ve changed them below, but the recipe can also be found here.
Truffled Potato Chips with Blue Cheese Sauce & Chives
- 8 oz. potato chips
- 4 oz. blue cheese sauce (see below)
- 1/4 oz. truffle oil
- 3 oz. Maytag blue cheese
- 1/2 tsp chives, chopped
- 1/2 tsp parsley
Blue Cheese Sauce
1 lb. butter
1 cup flour
1 gallon whole milk
3 cups crème fraiche
3 lb. Maytag blue cheese
1/4 cups chives, chopped
Salt
Pepper
In a medium sautépan, heat the butter until it is melted and then slowly add the flour and whisk together until it is completely incorporated to make a roux. Separately heat the milk until it is just about to boil and whisk in the roux to the milk mixture. Bring to a boil then turn down to a simmer and cook for 3 minutes.Add the crème fraiche and incorporate well. Add the blue cheese and cook it until it is completely melted. Strain and set aside.
For the completion of the dish, attractively arrange the potato chips on a plate. Spoon the hot blue cheese sauce over the top of the chips. Sprinkle the blues cheese over the top of the chips. Drizzle truffle oil over the top once again and garnish with chopped chives and parsley leaves.
Just a note: I’m assuming the sauce is made in large quantities, as a whole gallon of milk and 3 pounds of blue cheese sound like A LOT. If you’re going to make this, which I hope to once I’m off this stupid diet, I would probably quarter that part of the recipe, rather than half it!
Anyway, has anyone else ever had these chips? Or ever tried to recreate them?

This week’s product pick is a little different from the modern furniture I am typically coveting and is something that I’ve actually been using for a couple of weeks now.
The kind folks over at Su-Pen sent me an email asking if I’d be interesting in testing out their stylus for tablets, phones, etc. and since I was just about to purchase a new iPad, I thought why not?!
I’ve had an iPad since the original, and an iPhone for several years, but I never imagined the need for a stylus. But then, I started using the Su-pen with my new iPad and I felt like I was faster at typing and more efficient with less typos. I didn’t feel the response with the stylus was as fast as it was on my iPhone, but on my iPad I was like speedy gonzalez. Even my fiance was amazed.
The Su-pen also comes in handy for documents I need to fill out, for Photoshop, for blogging from my iPad. The only thing I do wish was that I had a way to attach it to the case or to the iPad somehow so that it was easier to find when I wanted to use it. What I do love most about it is that there aren’t any fingerprints up and down my screen when I use the stylus. Plus, its extremely affordable and looks just like a regular pen!
So, what do you think about the Su-pen? Would you use a stylus for your touchscreen devices?

Over the weekend, I was at a restaurant with gigantic drum pendants and I absolutely fell in love. I have a fairly large drum light in my kitchen as it is, but this one was so big and bold I couldn’t stop staring at it.
The drum lights above are large, but not as large as the ones that I saw over the weekend. I guess that makes sense though, because something that is large enough for a commercial space may not necessarily work as well in a residential location. Unless you have a gigantic kitchen. Which I do not. [Yet!]
The arrangement of four black drum shades over the kitchen island is a really stunning look, especially as they hang from the skylights with wooden planks.
What do you think of oversized drum pendants? Do you love this look for a home or do you prefer them in commercial settings?

I know it sounds as if I’m describing food, but really, I’m describing this beautiful ivory bedding. It’s fresh, white, and inviting – similar to the creamy goodness of a tub of vanilla ice cream!
The lovely ivory white bedding you see above is made by Kylie, from smooth cotton percale. While I love the textures of the bedding, what I’m loving most is the monochromatic bedrooms that the bedding has been styled in. The modern bedding adds texture and accessorizes the bed, wallpaper, the nightstands – the entire room, really!
Normally I would go for white over ivory, but this doesn’t look like there’s too vast of a difference. However, the ivory bedding mixed with the ivory decor provides a softer look that is still clean, just not as crisp as a bedroom of all bright whites would be.
If you prefer darker colors up against the creamy ivory, Kylie also offers plenty of colorful options. What do you think about ivory bedding? How about a monochromatic bedroom?

It’s been a while since we’ve peaked into some fabulous homes for sale. Take a look at this beauty offered by Savills in the United Kingdom.
The white and black living room into dining room – with that lucite coffee table is just gorgeous. I’m loving the white walls and white floors, too. It’s bright and modern and inviting, not overdone.
And how about that toilet? Who knew a toilet could bring so much joy?! [I never imagined saying that about a toilet!]
There’s also an awesome patio for entertaining, although I would probably add an outdoor heater so I could utilize its beauty for more months out of the year! My parents and younger brothers live in London, so I wouldn’t mind moving there. Plus, it looks like this home is in the Mayfair area – with fabulous shopping!
What’s your favorite part of this home, from these images?

What I wouldn’t give for a modern workspace like the Hully, shown above.
Orange isn’t my color, but that’s ok because they come in plenty of other desirable colors. I’m also loving that the tabletop has a sleek wooden top – its such a chic little accent.
The best part is, if you’re not using the table-top you can flip it down and make it into a seat – so you either have two chairs, a desk and a chair – or two desks if you’re really smart and productive like that. As someone who works from home, these would be awesome. I could work right from my living room by day and then transform them into a seating area by night – or when people drop by.
Hully is made by a company called Design You Edit, a company that was created by two Italian companies that came together to create furniture that is completely editable. Seriously, they have so much awesome stuff that I could purchase it all and completely redo my home into a modern wonderland. I would even get a refinance mortgage if it meant that I could do it!
What do you think of Hully and the concept of editable furniture?

What do you think of these chairs in glass?
The concept is interesting, but I’m not sure how useful they would. If it were raining it might be nice, but you would still have to dash outside to get in the glass cube. It does look pretty chic and modern, especially if the chairs were a bit more contemporary, but the functionality is holding me back a little.
Would you put these in your yard or would you rather chairs with the glass cube?
