Browsing for Inspiration

Sometimes I like to browse different websites for inspiration, like Pinterest. Other times, I like to browse through different furniture websites for decor inspiration, to see what’s out there, what would fill the empty spaces in my home, to procrastinate, etc. I always feel like I’m coming back to the same websites, so it’s refreshing when a new one is pointed in my direction.

Such is the case with Viesso. Once I started there, I went to look for a nice chair to fill this hole I have in my living room, which has been really bothering me since we took down our Christmas tree and it’s even more visible! Anyway, they have a large selection of ecosmart furniture at Viesso, which I know is quite important to many modern furniture shoppers out there.

Really, they have quite a large selection of many items, including modern wallpaper, which I may or may not have spent quite a bit of time browsing. Even better, a handy wallpaper calculator is there to help you quickly figure out how much you need! Love it. Plus, they have some great contemporary patterns that would look great in any room. [Specifically, my bathroom.]

So, if you haven’t checked Viesso out yet, I strongly urge you to do so – they have an awesome selection and a clean, easy-to-use website.

What piece do you covet most?

Weekly Six: 1.17.13

I can’t believe we’re more than halfway through the month of January already. Can you? I’m still not used to writing 2013, but it’ll come to me. Hope you had a great week and an even better weekend ahead!

Here’s this week’s Weekly Six:

1 – Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a compact wood-burning oven in your own kitchen?

2 – I could sit on the patio of this penthouse for days on end. Or just stare out the glass walls!

3 – An easy DIY that recycles old sweaters and makes a cute case for your iPad.

4 – Recommendations for 10 cleaning tools every home needs – do you have them all?

5 – Just starting watching Girls this week and I’m liking it so far. Anybody else a fan of the show?

6 – Gold + agate = a lamp made in heaven!

Did you find anything fabulous this week?

DIY to Try: Gold Mugs

Don’t you just love DIY’s such as these? They’re quick, easy, inexpensive and really add some spice to things you probably already have. All you need is an oil-based Sharpie and a mug, dish, glass, bowl, etc.

I’m not the world’s greatest artist, so I probably wouldn’t be able to replicate the fun pattern as they did on Oh, Hello Friend, shown above. But polka dots or a fun quote, that I could handle.

As far as I’ve read, you don’t even need to bake these after you draw on them for them to set – the oil-based marker will just stick. But that could be false information, and I would probably bake them just in case. Also, the ink isn’t food safe, so you have to keep your designs on places where food won’t be touching. So maybe that dish I suggested above isn’t such a good idea. The outside of a bowl would work though!

Anyway, I have a TON of white mugs that a few Sharpies could really liven up. How about you? Will you try this cute and simple DIY?

Product Pick: Concrete XL

There’s just something about concrete in interior design that I may not ever get tired of. It could be because my fiance works in the concrete industry, so I’m used to hearing about it in buildings and trucks and all of his plant talk. Either way, you can’t deny the fabulousness of the Concrete XL.

Made from concrete with a rubber silicone bottom, this pendant lamp is unique and industrial with a modern touch. Designed by Renate Vos, the Concrete XL is available in several other sizes, including small ones that can be clustered together or placed over a counter.

You would think concrete may be a cold look to a room, but personally, I think it looks pretty cool and stylish! What do you think of the Concrete XL?

Outdoor Seating

It’s been a busy few weeks and all I can think about is sitting in the warm sun relaxing. Which brought to me to some ideal outdoor seating that I wouldn’t mind having for myself!

I wouldn’t mind an outdoor spot where I could lounge, lay out, swim, grill and have dinner. Many of the gorgeous outdoor spaces you see have fancy pools and waterfalls, which ill agree are beautiful but I think there are many other elements that make an outdoor space amazing. Like the seating area!!

What do you think about outdoor seating? Do any of these spaces catch your eye?

More on Sofas

Last week we talked about finding the perfect sofa. This week I’m kicking myself in the butt for opening Pinterest and finding the most amazing sofa that I would never be able to peel myself off of.

Isn’t it gorgeous? It makes me want to throw away my current sofa, even though I love it so much I think I might love this one more. Isn’t that terrible? I feel like I’m cheating on my sofa!

Anyway, more about the sofa. The sofa you see above is the Soho Tufted Upholstered Daybed from Restoration Hardware. I’ve never really been a Restoration Hardware person, especially seeing some of the strange things they’ve been coming out with in recent years, but this makes up for it.

Of course, the price isn’t cheap [even on sale!] but I think this sofa would likely last a lifetime. Would you get tired of its large seat? Possibly, but you could always put it in the basement for guests to sleep on. I can’t see that happening though – I see it adding dramatic effect to a large living room.

What do you think about this tufted sofa? Are you in love as I am??

5 – Isn’t this glass and chrome combination gorgeous?

6 – Fresh floral wreath – love the pink clusters against the greens!

Have a great weekend!

Finding the Perfect Sofa

A friend of mine just moved into a new place and is on the hunt for the perfect sofa. She keeps sending me links and photos, because she just can’t decide. And I totally get it.

Buying a sofa can be an expensive decision, and it’s important that you choose one that’s perfect for you and your home. Or close to perfect – you don’t want to be searching for a sofa for the rest of your life!  Whether you decide on a smooth leather sectional sofa or a fabric loveseat, I thought I’d be together a few tips on how to make the decision much easier on you.

First of all, there are a lot of things to consider – like size, shape, fabric, color, and price. Will a sectional fit in the room you want the sofa in or would a sofa set be better? That also ties in with what you prefer – some people love sectionals , some love sofa sets. Or maybe you want a sofa bed to accommodate extra guests?

As for fabric, there are TONS to choose from – different colors and textures – and don’t forget about leather! Leather is nice because it’s super easy to clean, but it doesn’t always provide the coziest feel. Plus, some fabric sofas have removable covers that can be cleaned just as well. With fabric choices come color choices, which is my least favorite part. Most of the time you know what you want, the hardest part is finding it!

Basically, it all comes down to the style you want to give your living room and the shape it can accommodate and then the colors and fabric will all fall into place. [Hopefully!} If you need help with your search, you can select from a range of sofas at ASDA - a great website with tons to offer - from corner sofas to sofa beds!

What has your experience been with choosing a sofa?

Gorgeous Spaces: High Ceilings, Big Windows

What do you get when you pair high ceilings with big, clear windows? An absolutely gorgeous living room!

Add in some built-in see-through bookshelves, a swanky ladder, a beauty of a hot pink chair and you have the best living room I think I’ve ever seen. I could list every item of this room and still continue to find things that I love about it. The bike, the black lamp, that table with the frames. The black and white pillows.

What’s your favorite part of this modern living room?

Product Pick: Archipelago Coffee Table

Don’t you love when something appears so simple, but really it’s not that simple after all? That’s how this modern coffee table makes me feel. At first glance, it’s just a giant rock with some glass around it. But in reality, it’s a gorgeous modern coffee table that was crafted with time and perseverance to create a completely unique design.

Designed by Emmet Rock of Eagle Wolf Orca, the Archipelago II is what you see above. The grandiose size of the rock – and the fact that it “punctures” through the glass – rather than having the glass rest on top of a stone – is what gets my design-loving heart beating fast.

What I wouldn’t give for one of these bad boys in my living room! How do you feel about Archipelago?
