How was your 4th of July? It’s such a bummer having a holiday in the middle of the week, isn’t it?
These chic glossy Tric Tray Tables are making it a little bit easier to get through the day. Made from solid steel available in different finishes and sizes, these modern tray tables are a great accompaniment to any modern room. I can see them as a swanky side table in a crisp living room. How about you?
The Tric Tray Tables are designed by Moritz Friedrich, a designer from Munich.

A few weeks ago I visited a home that the most beautiful brick wine cellar and it made me think about how tradition most wine cellars are. So, I put myself on a mission for some modern wine cellars, and here’s what I found.
While I do love a nice brick and dark wood, the glass, bright colors and different shapes shown in these modern wine cellars are crisp and cool. It would be lovely to have a space like one of these in my own home one day.
Do you have a wine cellar? Is it more of a traditional cellar or does it have modern elements?

Recently, I have been lucky enough to work from the sunny spot of my backyard. Sitting in the sun or under an awning staring at the pool has been strangely productive for me lately.
Thus, I’ve got outdoor offices on my mind. Working from a lawn chair or outdoor dining chair can’t be that great for my back, so I’m dreaming of a space where I can comfortably work to be even more productive. Unfortunately, it probably wouldn’t be as lovely working outside in the middle of December as it is now. But that’s ok – I’ll take the few nice months any day!
What about you – do you ever work outside? Is it distracting or more productive for you?

A couple of months ago, I saw this DIY on Little Green Notebook using a gold leaf pen to spruce up some frames. Then a few weeks ago, while walking the aisles at Michael’s, I came across the three black frames above for only $3.99 each and I thought I’d try out the pen trick for myself, but in silver instead of gold. Our bedroom walls have been bare for almost a full year now, and I thought these frames would be perfect with some quick watercolors and a coat of silver leaf from the pen, which I also snagged at Michael’s.

Each frame took about 5-7 minutes, if that, and there was really no special technique to share – just shake the pen and paint it on! Sometimes, the paint would go on solid silver and then separate a bit if I went over it. I kept on with this, because I liked how the black of the frame came through a bit, as you can see in the close-up picture. Also, I removed everything from the frame beforehand, so I didn’t have to worry about getting anything on the glass.
Even though the silver leaf seemed to dry rather quickly, I let them sit out for a bit while I painted some quick watercolors and then let those sit for an hour or so before placing them in the frames.
Now I just have to get around to hanging those bad boys up!

When you sit at a desk all day, in front of a computer, it’s important to stay comfortable and healthy.
While I would love to sit in a chic lucite chair with a shaggy mongolian lamb throw draped over the back all day long, we all know that wouldn’t do my back or my posture any sort of justice.
I’m finding there a comes a point in time where you must sacrifice what you want for what you need and go for computer chairs and office chairs that are more suitable for spending hours on end sitting upright. Luckily, these chairs are available in brightly colored fabrics to liven up your office space while keeping your body in line.
So I can save those lucite chairs for my dining table and get myself a cozy, colorful office chair to stay comfortable and productive. Good plan, don’t you think?
What type of chair do you have at your desk?

This bright red toliet seat has me completely intrigued. It’s just so fun. In my opinion, at least.
I love how the rest of the accessories, none permanent, complement the bright seat: the towels, the rug, the hangers. If it were a neutral color, like black or grey, the effect just wouldn’t be the same. But if it were a neon yellow, green or fun blue, I think it would be just as excellent. As for me, I want to paint my toliet seat hot pink right now!
What do you think of this look? Would you paint your toliet seat an unconventional color?

I spotted this awesome modern dining table on Contemporist over the weekend and I’m smitten. There would be so many dining chairs that would look amazing with this table, that it would be hard to choose just one. Maybe a mismatched set would be best. As for the table, tt’s practical and functional, yet unexpected.
Designed by Daan Mulder, a Dutch interior architect and furniture designer, the Form Follows Function table is finished in an oak veneer with a matte lacquer.
What do you think of this modern table? What type of dining chairs would you pair it with?
