Maybe I’ve been hiding under a rock, but I had never seen flowers in ice cubes until I saw the first image above on Glitter Guide last week. As you can imagine, I’m newly obsessed and want to make these immediately! They would be the perfect added touch to a bridal or baby shower, a wedding, or just a fun dinner party. And so easy to make. [Image #4 is from Martha, who offers instructions and where to buy edible flowers and large ice cube trays]
Have you ever made floral ice cubes before?

I’m SO excited that Summer is finally here. Well, technically not until 7 pm tonight! It is so unbelievably hot in NJ today – and that’s ok with me. It’s been in the 70s, so it’s nice to have a real hot one – I don’t even care how hot my car will be or how frizzy my hair is going to get once I step outside. I think I’m just excited to relax and enjoy the pool!
Are you excited for Summer or do you prefer the cooler temps?
To curb [or maybe encourage] my excitement for the start of Summer, I rounded up my Summer faves from Pinterest. What reminds you of Summer?

This past Sunday, we had some of my fiance’s family over for a Father’s Day BBQ. Although the weather was a bit chilly, we still had a good time enjoying good food, beverages and conversations while the kids splashed in the pool. For dessert, my fiance’s stepmom brought over this simple papaya salad. This salad contains only a few ingredients, making it a quick and easy fix for a refreshing salad with a quick zing to it. It even keeps well for a few days after – the leftovers just made me the perfect afternoon snack!
Simple Papaya Salad
1 papaya, cubed
2 tablespoons of basil, chopped
Olive Oil
Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
Peel and remove the seeds from the papaya. (If you need a how-to, here’s a good video!) Cut the papaya into cubes and place into a large bowl. Add the chopped basil. Drizzle the salad with about one or two teaspoons of olive oil, just enough to lightly coat the fruit. If you like a little spice mixed with sweet, add some red pepper flakes and stir the salad to mix it all together. If you prefer to eliminate the pepper, no worries – the papaya is still delicious without!

Given the popularity of cowhide rugs and other animal outlines draped on living room and bedroom floors, it’s interesting to see the look in a different way, as on the comforter of the bed within the first image.
As the throw shown above is a hotel room, I think that it would be more functional in a room like that – or perhaps a guest room. I don’t know about you, but I’d get tired of taking that thing off every night and then rearranging it in the morning!
If you absolutely had to display an zebra or leopard rug or throw, which look would you rather – as a throw on a bed or as a rug on the floor?

Happy Friday! Do you have anything planned for this Father’s Day weekend? I’m hoping for a lot of sun which means a lot of pool time.

5 – These color-blocked DIY coasters add color and sparkle to any room.

Everyone seems to be obsessed with peonies. And don’t get me wrong – I can’t say I don’t love them. They’re beautiful! But, for the most part, hydrangeas are the ones that really have my heart. The blue ones are my favorites, but sometimes I just love the all white hydrangeas.
Yesterday, while shopping at Trader Joe’s, I snagged a bouquet of three stems for $5.99. I think they’re usually a dollar or so cheaper there, but what I paid still beats the other grocery stores around here. When I got home, I took two and cut them [a bit shorter than I had intended] for the coffee table. I had left the last stem on the longer side so I put it a small tube vase from the dollar store and placed it on the end of the dresser in our bedroom.
I’ll admit, I don’t keep fresh flowers around the house that often. For no reason in particular. But I love having them around, especially in our bedroom. This is definitely something I’m going to have to keep up with!
What about you – are you a peony person or do you favor the hydrangea? Do you keep fresh flowers around all the time or just once in a while?

As yesterday was all about getting organized, today is about getting organized in ultimate modern style. And sound! The chic storage cabinet above is the Caixa Cabinet with Speakers, which as the name states, has speakers for iPod and TV integration.
This sleek modern cabinet is designed by Paolo Cappello of Milan. To me, there’s nothing better than a nicely designed piece of furniture that is dually functional – as this cabinet is – providing great sound and great storage!
What do you think of the Caixa Cabinet?

We’re having work done on our basement, so it’s a mess. And because the basement is a mess, I feel like everything else is a mess. Every cabinet I open, every room I walk into – I want to immediately reorganize. Almost daily I find myself scanning the fridge looking for what I can get rid of next.
Does this ever happen to you? Are you an organized person?
I forgot to mention that because our basement is a mess, so is our garage, because it got the overflow of junk to empty out the basement. Since that is a mess that can and needs to be controlled, it’s number one on the organization to do list. While I’d love for the garage and for every closet and cabinet to resemble the images above, I feel like I’ll never get there. My first move is to make a more specific list of what needs to be done and really organized, and how I’ll go about it.
How do you get [and stay] organized? If you have any tips on what works for you, please share!

I just came across this simple yet fabulous DIY on from {panka} with love. All it takes is a few jars and some glow in the dark paint and you’ve got a beautiful nighttime display.
Some commenters on panka’s page suggested that paints from Michael’s were not strong enough, so they suggested buying paints here and here. I love the look of the dots, but I’m not sure that I would have the patience to paint that many small ones inside of such a large jar. Perhaps I’d try some swirls or stripes? Or maybe I’d use a q-tip instead of a paint brush. Whatever I decide to do, I know they’ll look amazing on my outdoor table or on the counter inside!
Will you be making these? What type of design would you do on the inside?
